About

Your music. Your files. No account, no subscription, no feed. Drift is a music player for people who still own their music. Import your collection and everything else disappears — the whole screen becomes the song. PLAY WHAT YOU WANT • Albums, artists, playlists, folders — browse your library the ordinary way. • Playlists you make yourself, reorderable, offline, yours. • Smart playlists from rules over your real tags — including which folder or drive a song came from. A PLAYBACK SCREEN WITH NO BUTTONS • Tap to play or pause. Double-tap to favorite. • Swipe up or down to change songs — real paging, like flipping vinyl. • Swipe from either edge for the drawer: library, playlists, and a mix for right now. Press the title for Up Next and the session controls. MADE OF YOUR ALBUM ART • Covers extend edge-to-edge; the empty space is painted to continue them. • The painted canvas breathes with the music — soft washes of the cover's color bloom on the beat, never over the art or the words. • The entire app — accents, panels, even the status bar — recolors to match what's playing. True-black OLED dark mode. A COLLECTOR'S ENGINE • Plays everything natively — MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, plus OGG, Opus, WavPack, Musepack, Monkey's Audio, TTA and more. No conversion; your files stay byte-identical (optional ALAC conversion in Settings for AirPlay 2 everywhere). • Gapless playback. Ten-band equalizer. AirPlay 2. Real codec detection (no more ALAC labeled as AAC). • Lyrics from your own files — embedded in the track, or a .lrc file you add. Fixes garbled CJK tags from old rips. • Tags and artwork found on iTunes and MusicBrainz, shown as a full before-and-after preview — every correction reviewable and revertible. • Duplicate finder that recommends the best-quality copy to keep. GETTING MUSIC IN • Files and Wi-Fi import (drag songs from any computer's browser), and folders that play in place — your files stay where they are. All free. • With Unlimited: play straight off an SMB share on your network, nothing copied and no storage used. A MIX FOR RIGHT NOW, IF YOU WANT IT • For Now, at the foot of the drawer: a mix built from when and how you actually listen — time of day, headphones or speaker, even the weather (optional). Everything is worked out on your phone; your listening history never leaves it. • And in Listening: your stats — minutes, top songs, a 24-hour clock — with Explore, fresh songs beyond your library, previews from Apple Music. • Prefer to choose for yourself? All of this stays out of the way — no suggestions on the playback screen, ever. Drift is your library first. Free: the whole player, with no song cap — every format, gapless, EQ, the lyrics you already own, Wi-Fi import, in-place folders, and a full preview of every fix. Drift Unlimited (a single purchase — no subscription, ever) does the work: tags and artwork completed as songs arrive, line-by-line lyrics found in your files, duplicate cleanup, one-tap whole-library maintenance, playlists from a mood, and SMB network drives.

What's New in drift

2.0.0

August 3, 2026

Drift 2.0 — the player is free. THE WHOLE PLAYER, FREE The 100-song cap is gone. Your entire collection — every format, gapless, the ten-band equalizer, Wi-Fi import, folders that play in place — free, with no account and no ads. A CANVAS THAT MOVES WITH THE MUSIC The painted space beneath your album art now breathes: soft washes of the cover's own color bloom on the beat and dissolve. Never over the art, never over the words — and it rests with Reduce Motion or Low Power Mode. UP NEXT, THE MOMENT YOU ASK Press the song title and Up Next is simply there — no wind-up, with a soft tick under your finger. The playing song leads with its genre and true format — codec, bitrate, sample rate, bit depth — and a heart to favorite it. The queue follows: tap to jump, drag to reorder, swipe to remove. FOR NOW At the foot of the drawer: a mix for right now, named for the moment it was made for — the hour, the day, headphones or speaker, even the weather if you allow it. One tap plays it. Worked out entirely on your phone; your listening history never leaves it. LISTENING Your stats grew into a screen of their own: minutes, top songs, artists, genres, your 24-hour clock — led by Explore, which finds songs beyond your library from what you actually play and finish, with previews from Apple Music. ONE LIBRARY, ONE DOOR Folders and drives moved into Library, beside Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres and Recently Added. The drawer keeps only what you reach for. SMARTER SMART PLAYLISTS Rules can now tell your sources apart: songs from one folder, or from one network drive, combined with everything else — format, year, play count, last played. Pick the folder or drive from a list instead of typing it. DARKER, WARMER A new default cover for songs without artwork in dark mode — bronze and rose, the night version of the light one — plus a quieter type ladder across the playing screen and panels. WITH DRIFT UNLIMITED One purchase, no subscription, ever: • Tags and artwork completed as songs arrive — and every fix previewed free before you keep it • Line-by-line lyrics: Drift finds them in your own files and follows along in time • Duplicates found and cleaned, best copy recommended • Whole-library maintenance in one pass • Playlists from a mood you describe, on your device Already own Unlimited? All of it is already yours. ALSO • Import notices announce once, then wait quietly until reviewed • The opening guide teaches the title press • A long list of fixes No account, no subscription, no ads. Your music never leaves your phone. ```
