STILL BROKEN
December 23, 2022 I’m still afraid to download the app because it hasn’t been updated for crashes yet. What’s holding this app from being updated for the crashing.
November 11, 2022 DSNY app is still crashing. I don’t often open it on my iPad because I have it on my iPhone as well. But since I was using my iPad at the time, I figured I would check when our next pick-up will be. Well, I opened the app up but it didn’t complete loading before it crashed. I tried again, and again, several times but it won’t open. Please fix the app if possible. Or please let me know if it isn’t the app itself. I was using an iPad Pro 5, 12.9 inch. I hope that helps. Missed pickup
Honestly i couldnt find any other way to make a complaint. Today was trash and recycle day and normally its all picked up in the middle of the night but not today ! My complaint is all the paper and cans were not picked up and its a super stormy windy day so our entire block is now covered in loose trash and recycables and im am so disgusted and annoyed by this. You think it wouldve been priority to make sure the sanitation truck picked up when a known weather problem like wind is expected.

Not accurate
It said garbage only, told all my neighbors about the DSNY app I follow and how it says ONLY garbage and no recycling. We all took our recycling back in. Two days later, (1 day after the app said it would pick up only garbage) they came and only picked up recycling! It wasn’t until 4 days later, after it said garbage only, that they finally picked up the garbage.

Why offer this app
I can not enter my address it keeps saying address invalid and for the borough it took awhile to figure out how to put borough in the borough was not visible on the app.
Wrong information foe election day
The app reported that garbage and recycling pickup was cancelled for the election day NYC holiday and garbage pickup would be on Wednesday. I believed them and didn’t put anything out. Wrong! Normal pickups were made on election day. I found out too late that the website reported the correct info but not the app. I just got an alert that my pickup is tomorrow, the day after election day. We will see if they come two days in a row.

Nice for basics. Not so for updates.
Is NYC a first rate city? How about an app that actually gives current information. Not just basics but information on changes for the NEXT day. Like holiday or snow. Man the site daily and make current changes. Thank You.

Needs Review
The app serves it purpose to notify when your regular trash pickup is scheduled and has a calendar that lists events.
It should be more. I wanted to drop off electronics at drop off site and couldn’t determine when I would be allowed. If you want to be a scheduling app you need to be able display schedules for uncommon events also. The five star was to get someone’s attention. Please redesign app so that it is more informative.

Terrible app
Foreground text is white so you can’t see what you are selecting or typing. App can’t find major addresses. Don’t waste your time

The app doesn’t work and doesn’t move past entering an address. I wouldn’t waste time when you can google the information.
What did I honestly expect?
Only reasonable explanation is that this was initially the work product of an A+ 8th grade CS student, who moved on to greener pastures soon after she handed this off to the talented devops team at DSNY.

How much money disappeared in the making of this useless app?
Really- how many millions vanished into the pockets of those in charge of creating this nonfunctional app? It can’t be used!!! This city is so corrupt and badly run.
Doesn’t work
App simple doesn’t work. After attempting to put in any address it doesn’t work. All choices are grayed out.
Better update on pickup services during snow and emergency
This app is good in letting you know when trash and recycles pickup are scheduled however, I would like to see better updates during snow storms or Emergency situations. There isn’t any information about delays or suspensions. Trash/recyclables just sits on street for weeks.
Worst App
They don’t send you update if garbage will be picked up on regular pickup days. Instead they just don’t show up and pick up the garbage on days they feel like. A total waste of time viewing this app.
The app has nothing behind it.
It’s just a mechanical app - does not know if it snows and the DSNY is doing something else with their time. You can just remember your own schedule. There is no new information coming into this app.

This app purports to keep you updated regarding pickup of both garbage and recyclables. It is never updated, even during the worst storms, instead giving dates for pickups that never come.

Typical government application
Only a government employee would build a application where the foreground text to select the borough is the same as the background color so you can’t see what you selected. The application can’t find a major address in Staten Island. The application is not aware that location services are in smart phone and it should tap

Unable to see text
If phone is set dark mode, the text is unreadable. The schedule is the only one that is useful right now.
Not helpful
There is no up-to-date information on collection of garbage or recyclables during or after a snow storm. This means that New Yorkers have to put out their garbage and recyclables on the usual schedule and hope that they get picked up the next day. If not, they have to drag them back in and put them out again the next night so they don’t get a ticket from the department of sanitation.
