Help

I can not get mine to show up the results. It’s just a brown screen when I swipe up.

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest review and sorry that it took this long. You were right about that result screen. Version 3.0 is a rebuild: you take one photo of the ingredient list, and the result comes up as a clear sheet over it. If you give it another try and have any more suggestions or problems, please check out dtect.app/contact.

FAQ

How does dtect identify allergens on food labels?

dtect uses text recognition to read the printed ingredient list on food labels. It flags allergens in red for direct matches and amber for 'may contain' statements, showing the specific words that triggered the alert.

What allergens does dtect support?

dtect has 14 EU allergens built-in, which you can customize or switch off. It also allows you to add your own specific allergens and set them to 'Alert' or 'Caution' levels.

Can dtect scan labels in different languages?

Yes, dtect recognizes allergens on labels in English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, and Spanish. The app itself is also available in these languages.

Does dtect require an internet connection to scan labels?

No, dtect reads the label directly, so it does not rely on a barcode or product database. This means it works offline and is suitable for imported goods or store-brand products.

Is dtect safe for children?

How often is dtect updated?
