Duco is amazing but the app needs work
The modular and zonal nature of say the DucoBox Focus, means you can mix and match components so that bathrooms vent when there is too much humidity, a bedroom vents when there is too much CO2, and a toilet vents when a PIR sensor connected via an RF relay switch detects a person sitting on the toilet. Yes you can actually do this. No other system I’ve seen allows for this awesome functionality.
The app however is unloved and has not been updated in two years. It works but with notable quirks. On an iPhone 14 for example the ‘go back arrow’ is very tricky to click, and doesn’t match the icon’s position. This is used all the time. The data displayed is only accurate when the app is first opened, and requires a full app quit and restart to refresh. Why can’t I pull down to refresh? This is trivial to implement considering the app is just pulling JSON data over the local network.
I find I am using the app and the web app interchangeably. The web app is a lot less pretty, but the data updates fast. The app is useful to check things around the house without needing my laptop.
I’d like to see some love given to both these interfaces again, and please add tooltips explaining the acronyms and abbreviated headings in the web app.
I love my DucoBox and want to love the app too.
