Don’t update until you’ve completed your current training plan

Was at the last workout in my training plan, did the update, and can’t find that plan anymore (freestyle bootcamp). A bit annoyed to miss out on the little dopamine hit associated with clicking the button to complete the plan.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the confusion. We recently updated and improved parts of the training plan experience, which included renaming and restructuring some plans in the latest version to make the workouts and overall experience better. Your Freestyle Bootcamp plan has now been renamed to “Freestyle Foundations.” If you message us through the in-app support chat or at support@duoswim.com, we’ll help you find the updated plan and continue from where you left off. 🏊

Honestly been loving it

Okay so DuoSwim has honestly changed how I swim. It doesn’t just let you log laps - it builds you proper training plans based on your level and goals. You tell it what you want (get faster / swim more / build endurance) and it actually adapts the workouts.

Tracking is slick too. You can log swims in seconds, see your distance, pace, splits, calories, heart rate, and it syncs with your Apple Watch so it’s all automatic. No more typing in a notebook afterwards.

There are technique drills and dryland workouts in there as well, so you’re not just swimming blind. I swear my stroke feels cleaner because the app reminds me what to focus on. There’s even a bit of community vibe if you want it.

And the best thing - compared to paying for a swim coach or random swim classes, this is so much better value. You get personalised coaching cues, structured plans, data tracking AND it’s way cheaper. Honestly feels like having a coach on standby without the awkward small talk.

If you swim even semi-seriously, DuoSwim is worth a go. 🏊‍♀️💪

Free trial…

Was supposed to be a free weeks trial but I got charged instantly for a month. Cancelled and deleted app now.

Quality Training Sets

I used this app to train for long distance swims and completed the Chesapeake Bay 4.4 mile swim and the Swim of Legends 8 mile swim using the workouts. I had no bugs, no issues, and it synced great with my Garmin watch. I really enjoyed the main sets and the variety of workouts. I have read reviews that indicate that the app used to have problems- but I wanted to make a review to state that this is no longer the case. I will keep using this app to keep my swims interesting.

Thank you so much for your incredible review and congratulations on completing the Chesapeake Bay 4.4 mile and Swim of Legends 8 mile swims! We're thrilled to hear that the app supported your training and that everything worked seamlessly with your Garmin. It means a lot that you took the time to highlight the improvements and share your experience. We'll keep working hard to deliver fresh, high-quality workouts to keep your swims engaging. Thanks again for being part of the DuoSwim community! 🏊‍♂️

Unfortunately, it didn’t log my workout properly.

I was excited to try DuoSwim, but it didn’t log my swim properly. Even after setting it to metres, the Apple Watch still showed yards, which made tracking confusing. As an intermediate swimmer, I think it has potential for those who know what they’re doing, but this bug made me lose confidence. I was considering the yearly plan, but not after this first session.

Good but needs a few tweaks

This app is a nice, affordable swim workout app. I like the sets and structure of the app, but the interface could use a few tweaks.

First, Apple watch connection. I think it’s weird that you have to have the app open on both your watch and your phone to sync and send workouts to your watch. Also, while swimming using your watch, you can’t see which exercise is next until 10 seconds before you’re supposed to start the next exercise. If there is gear required, this gives very little time for prep. It would be nicer to be able to see the next exercise the whole time.

Saving swims/logging workouts. After every completed workout, the app asks if you want to save your swim or log your workout. If you don’t click it, it doesn’t save your workout and there’s no way to go back and see your swim. I did an extra cooldown after a swim and my workout disappeared because I didn’t hit save swim. All completed workouts should be automatically logged without having to click a button.

Drylands workouts. I think the exercises for the drylands workouts are good, however there should be at least 10 seconds rest in between each exercise so we can see what we are supposed to do next. Doing 45 seconds of a standing exercise and then immediately 45 seconds of a floor exercise makes you waste workout time figuring out how to switch exercises. Also, during the rest periods it would be nice to see a preview of the next exercise instead of a blacked out screen.

Coach workouts. I really like the workout set option. I started the improve stamina program to get back into swimming and I really like the workouts so far. However, when it’s time to do your workout for the day, there is a warm up workout above the main workout, and a cool down workout below it. These are nice to do, especially for the drylands workouts BUT once you complete the main workout they disappear and you can’t go back to that list. So, I can complete the warm up and go back to the list to complete the main workout, but after I complete the main workout the list with the cool down is gone for the workout I just completed. It automatically shows me the next day’s workout list. I have been having to look at which cool down they suggest and remember it before completing the main workout, then going to the explore tab to hunt down the cooldown workout they suggested. Also the workouts completed counter at the top of the coach workouts doesn’t count right. It says I’ve completed 3/44 workouts when really I have done 9/44. And it checked off all nine so I don’t understand why they aren’t counted.

Overall I think this is a good app but it has the potential to be GREAT! I really hope yall take my suggestions into consideration

Thanks so much for the great review, we really appreciate the feedback. It’s exactly this kind of detail that helps us keep improving DuoSwim. We’re close to launching Version 4, which will improve many of the things you mentioned. On the Apple Watch connection, you’re right — for now, Apple requires the phone app to be open to sync. We’re doing our best to streamline this within their setup. We’re also making updates to how warm-ups, cool-downs, and dryland workouts flow, especially inside Coach programs, to make things feel more seamless. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts, and for using DuoSwim. Keep an eye out for Version 4, and happy swimming!

Great app but needs an offline option

The app is great, however I have to open the phone app and watch app then ensure I have WiFi or cell signal to be able to find a workout, then send it to my phone. This means I have to do this well before I’m in the changing rooms at my local pool as there is no signal in there. This has caught me out a few times and I’ve ended up using the standard Apple workout swim app. Can you enable downloads of the workouts within the iPhone app so I can send a workout to my Apple Watch when I have no phone signal please?

Amazing app!

Great sets in a quick and convenient format!

Great swim workouts

I’m back in the pool after 5 years thanks to this app. The plan I’m on is exactly what I need, it has great structure and the watch app is perfect for guiding me through a workout. I really like that it has some dry land workouts too.

$90 a year just to get some sets

I shouldn’t have to pay $90 a year just to get some basic advice on what sets to do. That should be free.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. DuoSwim includes structured training plans, workout tracking, Apple Watch integration, swim analytics, dryland training, and regular updates. We understand that not every app is the right fit for every swimmer, but we've worked hard to create a complete training platform rather than simply providing workout sets. Thanks for giving DuoSwim a try.

Watch app is very limited, integration apple fitness weak.

Positive: The coaching side seems ok and decent price compared to others. Needs Improvement: Watch app The watch up has a very basic screen in pool swim mode. Only distance, time, heart rate and calories. Split time can’t be changed while swimming, you are stuck with it when you begin, need to be chosen. No time/100m etc available. Apple fitness integration. Pool swim recorded as open water swim in Apple Fitness. No detail on splits / sets available in Apple fitness. Just distance and heart rate during swim. So integration not working too well. iPhone application Coaching section looks ok but I’ve not tested it. There is only a high level summary available on swims: Distance, Duration, Pace (over whole session including rest), Calories, Average Heart Rate over whole session. So fairly useless to track how well one has done by set. Since I have a coach, cancelled subscription. Not useful for me.

Great app

Great app for when looking to get back in the pool after a few months off. Gives a structured plan and varies it up day to day!

Highly recommend

Brilliant app which not only looks great but works really well.
There are hundreds of expert designed workouts nicely separated into sections which you can select depending on your area of focus.
Features such as the pre and post pool mobility exercises are really helpful and something which I haven’t seen before on other workout apps.
Also, being able to see how far I have swam in total and how many workouts I have completed is extremely motivating and rewarding to see.
Overall, I would highly recommend this app to anyone at any level of swimming.

Great app

Was looking for fresh ideas for open water swimming and triathlon orientated sets. Really easy to use application and I particularly appreciate the feature that lets you know what equipment you will need for the session.

Would recommend this app to any swimmer that would like extra guidance and structure with their training.

Not “free” at all

To have access to any workouts on this app, you have to pay a pretty hefty subscription fee. There are no free swim plans and it’s a waste of time downloading unless you’re aware of and happy to pay their monthly subscription fee.

Fantastic!

A really engaging training app with a wide variety of sessions to suit all abilities and aims. I’ve used sessions from this app over the last couple of months and I’ve really started to see a big difference in my swimming already.

I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do come race time 🙌 highly recommend!!!

Something for everyone

This app really covers all the aspects of swim training, for individuals of all levels. Choose a set with a specific focus or session duration perfect for those days where you just want to get a quick swim in. Or you can also choose to follow long-term structured training plans in the pool complimented by gym workouts specific to enhancing performance in the pool.

It takes away the hard and often time-consuming part of coming up with my own sets, allowing me to just focus on working towards my specific goal leaving no room for excuses.

The resources and knowledge this app provides just isn’t something everyone can have access to easily unless affiliated with a club or paying for a coach/personal trainer nowadays so having it all compiled into one space for such a reasonable price is like a dream come true - I love it!

Buggy App

Was in the market for an app to help with swim technique and workouts. I got an e-mail to try 14 days free. The sign up process was very difficult and once I confirmed my free trial, I could still access nothing in the app without the free trial offer popping up continuously. I went into my apple account and sure enough I was already subscribed.

I canceled and deleted it. An experience like this so early on as a user is a turn off and frankly annoying. Going to try a different one instead.
