About
In 1980, a programmer named Donald Brown sat down at an Apple II and built something remarkable — a text adventure system he called Eamon. It wasn't just a game. It was a world: a Main Hall where adventurers gathered, a weapon shop, a bank, a wizard who'd teach you spells. And beyond the hall, a growing library of dungeons and quests that anyone could explore, or build.
Brown gave Eamon away. No copyright, no charge, no conditions — just an invitation to play and create. Over the following decade, volunteers wrote more than 250 adventures and shared them freely. Eamon became one of the earliest examples of an open, community-driven game ecosystem.
Eamon 2K26 brings that world to iPhone, faithful to Brown's original vision.
— Create your adventurer and equip them at the Main Hall
— Explore dungeons with Brown's original combat mathematics, preserved exactly
— Earn gold, bank it, improve your weapons skills and armor expertise
— Face monsters that fight back intelligently, flee when outmatched, and drop their purses when they fall
— Find weapons, treasures, and curious artifacts — and decide what to carry home
The game ships with three adventures from the original Eamon library, including Brown's own Beginner's Cave — the same dungeon Apple II players first explored in 1980. More adventures can be created with the companion app, Dungeon Designer Diskette, a free iPad tool for building your own Eamon worlds.
Eamon 2K26 is free, contains no advertisements, and collects no data. It is offered as a tribute to Donald Brown and to everyone who kept his creation alive.
