My favorite white noise app
This is my favorite white noise app. The app description sounds like it was made up by AI or something, but it is remarkably truthful. This app does white noise like no other. It is a soothing, masking sound unlike anything else. Very much worth grabbing.
Its genius is the simplicity
Even though I prefer brown noise or green noise over white or pink, I end up choosing this app every single time when I want to get back to sleep in the early morning, for the simple fact that all I need to do is put on my headphones and open the app. No searching, no fiddling around, no accidentally waking myself up too much by using my screen and brain for too long. Thank you!
UPDATE: Even though I'd already given this app 5 stars, I'm updating it to reiterate just how great it is. My circumstances have changed and I can no longer use headphones, but even using it with just the phone speaker it still works very well. I have come to rely on this app so much to get a decent night's sleep that I can no longer imagine my life without it. And still to this day, its simplicity is its genius. Just one tap to open the app, and go to sleep. Please don't ever change this perfection of an app. And thank you, again, for changing my health for the better!

Works great
I use it to filter out high pitched cat noises, air conditioning/house noises. It's great.
The perfect sound to help fall asleep
I’ve been using Earplug every night for several years. I travel several nights a week and wherever I am it takes only a few minutes to fall asleep. The sound is perfect to fall asleep to.

Sleep timer?
I love the sound and simplicity but would appreciate turning the app off after I’m unconscious.. would it be possible to add a really simple sleep timer to this great app? Thanks for your consideration.

Hey there, thanks so much for the review. We've considered adding dozens of features including a choice of sound, timers, display options, and adding an About Box and a "Review Me" alert. We are a team of engineers and we LOVE building stuff! However, with Earplug, we have to stay true to our first, minimalist principles. It's always on when it's running and you force quit to kill it (or pause it). One noise to block them all
It reminds me of a fan noise mixed with a windy day. A whooshing sound of sorts. The sound would probably be good at masking other noises, but I’ve only tried it in a quiet environment so far. App is simple and yet it is almost too simplistic. Pretty good overall.

So Comforting & Well Made
I really dig this soothing white/pink noise application a whole lot. It presents what the description claims to a tee in my opinion. No extra controls or other complications. Just simplicity and a great source of calming relaxation I’ve found here.
All you need to do is open this program up and it instantly starts playing the white/pink noise combination. The only other option is to pause the noise and that’s it. I like sleep sound applications that offer tons of features and options for sure. Especially ones that let me record my own sleep sounds. But, there is just something about this app’s no muss no fuss, simple setup that makes it easy to start it and hopefully have a good rest, night’s sleep or just as a great way to reduce environmental noise and distractions I think. Simple is definitely sometimes better I believe.
I like to use, Earplug, in conjunction with my Sony SRS-XB40 Bluetooth speaker and play it loud to help me zone out and relax when I’m stressed out. I really appreciate as well the many different ways that you can control and play this application.
I believe that if you want one of the best white/pink noise applications out there with just the most simple control scheme that you could imagine. That, Earplug, is probably going to be your best bet on the App Store.
Also I wanted to note and extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the developer of this program for offering it for free today. Thank you very much for that generosity. Yet, seeing how well that I think, Earplug, performs now. Well, I would have gladly paid the asking price for sure. Seeing how well that Earplug performs made me also want to check out and possibly buy this developer’s cool looking MIDI controller app that I saw listed below. I wish that it had a demo possibly because the price is a tad high, though no doubt worth it from reading the reviews. But, it definitely looks rad and I as much as I love finding new sleep sound applications. I also love finding new music apps as well. Thanks Joshua for the insightful review and kind words. We made this app to use it ourselves and we think distraction-free, single-use, well-polished apps should be more common. We're so glad to get a witness for what we're trying to do here! Regarding MIDI Designer Pro 2: it's an iPad app that became a Universal app (iPhone & iPad) back in 2014... so the pricing is a bit outrageous for the iPhone-only market. We're thinking of fixing that in 2023 by releasing an iPhone-only app, but it's currently months away... and that may be subscription only so might not help the issue ;) Thanks again, glad to hear that you loved Earplug and left a well-written, positive review. Missing essential function
Pretty good but REALLY needs a configurable sleep timer to stop playing after a selected number of minutes / hours.
LOVE Earplug!
A necessity for those with Misophonia! I use this very often on my iPad to drown out external noises. I also use it on my iPhone for sleeping overnight when traveling. Highly recommended!

Best white noise app!
I’m a nurse that works night shift. And, sometimes it is hard to sleep during the day. I’ve been using this app for over 2 years. I have tried other apps, but I always come back to this one.

This app is amazing. When I wake up in the middle of the night because of the noisy bar in the parking lot next to my apartments, this is the app I open. No brain power is required to use this app. Open it up and go back to sleep!

Wow! Just arrived tonight in a noisy hotel, thought to myself "there has to be an app for this problem," found "earplug" and all I can say is wow! It works like a charm...with my headphones on all the background noise is covered up and I can get some much needed rest. Thanks for a great app!
Update, a few years later: I have been religiously using earplug every time I need to block out outside noise… And I have to say, not only am I better-looking than I ever was before, but I also feel more powerful, confident and successful! And I owe it all to this one app… Because if it didn't help me block out the noise that I need to block out in order to sleep the way I need to sleep in order to be as successful as I need to be, I wouldn't be anywhere.
