What's New in Echo | Notes for Writers

1.5.0

October 31, 2025

A Smarter Home, Faster Drafts. This is our biggest update yet. - INTRODUCING PROJECTS: Your new writing studio. You can now instantly turn a messy collection of notes into a clean, structured outline (or first draft). Just pick a topic, and Echo builds a draft rooted only in your ideas. It even flags "missing sections" to guide your next writing step. - YOUR NEW SMART HOME: The new Home tab is your personal dashboard for inspiration. Smart widgets resurface your "compound interest" notes, show you topics that are ready to develop, and help you spark those self-made "aha" moments. - This update also includes UI polish and bug fixes to make your capture flow even smoother (now use headphones).

Great App!

A must for any sales professional.

Think Better

Echo has become an essential tool for me, providing a platform to express and organize my thoughts and ideas. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and private way to manage their insights, or as a personal assistant in their daily life.

Good for automatically organizing and connecting different thoughts

I've been using the similar "Voicenotes" app more than Echo until recently, but Echo does a good job with the AI connections between notes, and suggestions for further thinking.

FEATURE REQUEST: Import markdown notes from other apps or note sources. This would enable me to consider a full switch from Voicenotes.

What is the point

So I was referred to this by a family member who heard of it. God knows how they heard of this. I got this assuming it had more capacity to handle long audio recordings. This app only allows for 10 minutes of audio and then stops. I was shocked. Especially at $59.99 a year, no thanks! Minutes Ai records as long as l need and then transcribes in minutes with notes and tools. This is for like self recordings for note on short ideas or something. Not for recording highlights or minutes from vital meetings or anything useful in my work life.

Response from developer

Thank you for the review! Sorry for the confusion, but you ultimately hit the nail on the head: Echo is designed for self recordings of thoughts and ideas, not meetings. We're not familiar with Minutes AI, but it is true that there are many great tools for recording meetings. We hope you find what you're looking for. We're a small team and very early-stage (but also highly motivated!). These reviews have a big impact on us. If you feel we deserve 1 star then please keep this as is, but if this review helped address your concerns (that this app is intentionally not designed for meetings but instead self recordings) we would really appreciate it if you reconsidered. Thank you!

who owns my data?

***UPDATE***
Thank you so much for addressing my concerns and clarifying the terms of service. I truly appreciate your openness to improving the language to make it more accessible. Please know that there was no malice intended in my reviewβ€”I genuinely love using the app, and knowing that these issues have been addressed makes me feel much better about continuing to use it.

I am reassured knowing that Echo is in such capable hands. Your commitment to transparency and user privacy means a lot, and it’s great to see your proactive approach to feedback. Thank you once again for your efforts and dedication to making the app even better. Keep up the fantastic work!

This app has great potential, but I have significant concerns regarding privacy and my data. While your website states that user data is private, protected and encrypted, and that our input will not be used to train AI, your terms of service convey a different message. They explicitly indicate that you can utilize any of my input or output as you wish, including selling it or using it for promotional purposes without my consent. This raises an important question: Is my data truly private and exclusively mine, or do you also claim ownership over it? I believe that all current and future app users deserve clarity on this issue.

Response from developer

Thank you for believing that Echo has potential! And thank you for pointing out that our Terms of Service could use simpler language, because we absolutely want it clear that we do not have the right to use your data however we wish. We use your data to improve the app, and by "data" we mean things like logging in, performing an action, hitting an error (rare, but when that does happen we need some data to fix it). Your actual notes are encrypted and not available to us for selling or using in promotional materials. You're right that our Terms of Service could say this in simpler terms. You can confirm that we've made these changes to Section 5 of our Terms of Service: https://www.echonotes.ai/terms-of-service Thanks again for pointing out the unnecessarily legalese. We're just two cofounders here and your feedback has a direct impact.
