Most of the photos I see in Ecosia are just ai slop.
Disappointed & Frustrated
Ecosia is a great browser, but only on the web and phone in my experience. Despite trying everything that I can (restarting my device, redownloading the app, connecting to my phone’s hotspot, connecting to another network, trying private search, etc.) there is absolutely no way to get past the firewall and use the search engine normally.
The only other pages that work are the Ecosia newsletter page, direct website addresses, and search with their AI tool. It is already disappointing enough that AI is being used, especially as many of us are seeking out more climate considering alternatives to the norm, such as Ecosia, but the imposition of AI is frustrating. I do not want to support or use an app that only works if I go through their AI feature. Please fix this for tablets/iPad devices.

Easy to use, not much different from other search engines and has a nice dark mode :)
I am not a robot!
For weeks now I have been trying to get Ecosia to fix a bug that doesn’t allow me to access the site. I am definitely not a robot but Ecosia doesn’t seem to want to believe me. Sadly I have had to move to another search engine who (a) doesn’t match my ethics, and (b) insists of flooding me with AI slop.

After a few minutes use this claimed unusual traffic, challenged to prove human without issuing check and then refused to work.

I love this app and you help plant trees just but searching up stuff on it, you can help by doing almost nothing.
Great when it works
It’s a great concept and when it works it’s great but it constantly freezes and is unusable and you have to delete the app and its data then download it again

No matter what I do previous searches keep appearing when I search something!
I’ve searched up how to multiple times, and it always tells me “go to settings or clear your search history” AND I HAVE!! I cleared it and even tried closing all my tabs and they still pop up when I search something. I also tried turning off autocomplete like it told me to, and it was still there

Guys please PLEASE do not use this app. They are lying to you. They use ai which is harmfu. They lie about their use of ai and how they make it beneficial.

Great Ethical Browser
Ecosia is superb! I’ve used it for 2-3 years now and really enjoy it. It has added perks for those who wish not only use the company but then access other ethical websites through a little symbol. There have been bugs here and there, but these are fixed within a good timeframe. The AI feature wasn’t great when it came out, but for myself I choose not use AI and have turned it off - this is part of its friendly and customisable user interface.

Privacy, respect, environment.
Search has been converted into harvesting users and their data. It is fully upside down. And then they’re in the Epstein Files. And then they violate their privacy statement. Then they change it to obfuscate the user. How about none of that. How about Ecosia. Read what they track of their users. Use this.

Unusual traffic
I love using Ecosia. But as of recent, every time I try to search something up I get a white screen telling me they have detected unusual traffic from my network. I use my phones hotspot on my iPad while I’m out and it’s become an issue for some reason. I updated the app and restarted my device but it’s still giving me that same white screen every time I try to search something up. Only the Ai works right now and the saved shortcuts from sites I use often.
