i think its amazing! i always try to avoid using ai, and after i realized that google using ai awnsers and everything i stopped using it.
AI Overviews won’t stay off
I started using Ecosia a while ago, and I’ve enjoyed my experience with this app for the most part, but recently the ai features are getting on my nerves.
I do not like AI. It’s terrible for the environment, no matter how much you pretend your “eco-friendly ai” is better, it’s still terrible. AI straight up lies to people, and just overall sucks. But, imagine how happy I was that Ecosia actually allowed you to turn off AI overviews, while every other app shoves AI slop down your throat!
So I turned off AI overviews. But about 2 weeks ago, I search something up, and guess what shows up? An AI overview! I figured it was just a glitch, and I go into settings and turn off AI overviews again.
But it kept happening. I search something up, an AI overview shows up, I turn it off, and then it happens again a few days later. I’ve tried turning it off from the actual overview (and made sure to press save), turning it off directly in settings, and I even went from being a ‘guest user’ to making an actual account, nothing works. The overviews stop for a day or two, then turn right back on. This has happened about 7 times in 2 weeks. It’s getting really annoying. Please fix this.

The whole point is no ai?
Like? What’s the point of being all eco friendly if you still have ai? The whole reason I got this was because I’m tired of the google bs, please remove the ai
They still have an option for AI btw 🙄
How can you claim to be eco friendly if you’re still giving users the option to use AI? That’s the whole point of us being here bro. All the work supposedly on planting trees gets thrown out the window if you give your users an AI option. It’s alr been proven that one AI search alone severely messes up our planet. This feels like green washing. I’m checking out DuckDuckGo instead.

Quite literally non-evil version of Google
I love Ecosia so much, I like seeing how I can ,in even if it’s a small way, positively affect the environment.It works just as well as Google and even has a more environmentally friendly version of AI(if that’s what you’re worried).I made the switch and i’m not going back.I 100% recommend to any and everyone.

The absolute irony in talking about climate change and planting trees when this browser literally uses an AI overview on every single search. Isn’t that literally wasting all of the water on the planet? How is that helping climate change? if someone actually wants to invent a search engine that doesn’t give me some awful AI answer every single time, whilst simultaneously making everyone more collectively dumber and using up all our fresh water supplies - then let me know and I’ll be the first to use it.

Built in AI
Not using because it has an AI function, why defeat the purpose of your app? Peoples water are turning brown and dirty because of these AI data centers, it's confusing this is an option.
Works as well as any browser, except it plants trees
Another thing I like is that the AI responses aren’t too long and tedious. Shows you info and that’s all. Don’t see why you shouldn’t use this browser. Who doesn’t like planting trees?
Why AI?
So sad to see them add AI features even though you have to click to use it. What’s the point of using Ecosia to help plant trees if they even partner with generative AI even if it’s just an option? While it is better than a lot of options, I still have to call them out on it.

I find the AI useful
Ive seen many reviews saying “why the ai?” Its because they try to make it inclusive, so for someone who does use ai for tips on games and how to do certain things it is very helpful. Glad I downloaded this app!

Amazing app and very accessible. The app focuses on environmental impacts and preserving our planet. A few bugs but the pros outweigh the cons all day!
Greenwashing wrapped up in a clunky unoptimised search engine
I feel like this browser is just a tool to make it harder to be an environmentalist the way it’s so poorly designed. And it’s new ai search engine which completely diminishes the entire point engine does more harm than it does good.
It’s good but I’m getting settled into using ecosia
I think this is the app for the replacement of google Since google is planning on using full on ai, now obviously because of nestle,ai and Global warming i decided to use this app!

If you say you care about the planet, and our environment, and you don't use this search engine you are a hypocrite, or worse! Just as good as Google & they plant trees with their revenue. Already 87 million trees planted but we need 100x that to make a REAL DIFFERENCE! Please use it and tell everyone you have ever met to use it too 🙏❤️
