i think its amazing! i always try to avoid using ai, and after i realized that google using ai awnsers and everything i stopped using it.
AI Overviews won’t stay off
I started using Ecosia a while ago, and I’ve enjoyed my experience with this app for the most part, but recently the ai features are getting on my nerves.
I do not like AI. It’s terrible for the environment, no matter how much you pretend your “eco-friendly ai” is better, it’s still terrible. AI straight up lies to people, and just overall sucks. But, imagine how happy I was that Ecosia actually allowed you to turn off AI overviews, while every other app shoves AI slop down your throat!
So I turned off AI overviews. But about 2 weeks ago, I search something up, and guess what shows up? An AI overview! I figured it was just a glitch, and I go into settings and turn off AI overviews again.
But it kept happening. I search something up, an AI overview shows up, I turn it off, and then it happens again a few days later. I’ve tried turning it off from the actual overview (and made sure to press save), turning it off directly in settings, and I even went from being a ‘guest user’ to making an actual account, nothing works. The overviews stop for a day or two, then turn right back on. This has happened about 7 times in 2 weeks. It’s getting really annoying. Please fix this.

The whole point is no ai?
Like? What’s the point of being all eco friendly if you still have ai? The whole reason I got this was because I’m tired of the google bs, please remove the ai
They still have an option for AI btw 🙄
How can you claim to be eco friendly if you’re still giving users the option to use AI? That’s the whole point of us being here bro. All the work supposedly on planting trees gets thrown out the window if you give your users an AI option. It’s alr been proven that one AI search alone severely messes up our planet. This feels like green washing. I’m checking out DuckDuckGo instead.
