New bug since update. Older hilarious bugs persist too, but largely good
Edit edit: today’s update crashes on iPhone 14 Pro on iOS 26.7 when deleting a file from archive. File doesn’t delete and app quits. Repeating has same effect.
Edit: persistent bug using latest iOS and app version on iPhone 14 Pro - play controls and “back to current” disappear regularly and don’t come back via the usual methods like scrolling further up, exiting and re-entering book - even with the setting to allow them to disappear turned off.
Guys, you gotta get it together with the way voices sometimes randomly shout a kind of mumbled unsure sound. During normal playback it’ll happen like once an hour the voice will randomly loudly shout a sort of “ugh/mbleh/behmbhehbeh” sound like it’s glitching. Always way louder than it was reading, and not always anywhere logical. I just had it do one before a speech marker, but it used to often happen between chapters or at the new chapter start.
Sometime the mumble (joltingly loudly then makes a whining sound for an obnoxiously long time getting higher then tapering off. It’d be comical if it wasn’t so disturbing.
These examples are happening in all versions of Archer voice which is the only British English or Irish voice I can find that talks in a normal way and doesn’t suddenly go quiet like it’s been shut in a closet every few paragraphs. (Otherwise my favourite would be Cillian). But it seems to happen in all voices after a while. Not always at the start of voice install. It’s like it starts trying to predict the text then when something it doesn’t expect is there is glitches, almost human in it’s confusion but humans would go quiet and say “um” where it blurts a loud confused sound.
Also please more British English and Irish conversational / faster speaking natural sounding voices! As an Australian I can’t stomach American sounding voices and the rest of the world agrees when it comes to English they just sound better and more intelligent.

An Exceptional Reader
I have been using it for a couple months now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a few hiccups from time to time but I close the app and reopen and it’s fine. It will stop in the middle of reading after I have been listening for a few hours. I have listened to a couple dozen lengthy books in the last couple months. Definitely a great app and the ability to use different voices for reading and they have been excellent!

SCAM AND BERY HARD TO CANCEL!
Books are not that great and it is impossible to deactivate or delete the account. I thought I did once, I sent an email and everything but nope! The positive reviews on this app HAVE to be fake!
Coolest app ever
I’ve always needed something to read a lot of things for me since I’m not a good about reading with comprehension I can read a lot of things and have no clue what I read and this app really helps me fix that and then it could help me. Read better in the future while reading along with the reader which I really like,
Side now also I don’t know if you guys actually read your comments, I think it could be even cooler if you added more voices like actual famous people voices I think that would really add a lot to the full experience, but that’s all all in all in all a really cool app

Eleven Labs is the king of AI voice generation and this app is a blessing! It’s so much easier to get through my backlog of books using this app! I love that I can get the exact voice profile that I want to hear read me my books. The integration of Kindle makes this 100 times better!

A revolution in reading textbooks
I began a graduate program a few weeks back after 10 years out of school, and I was struggling horribly with making time to sit down and do the readings until I found ElevenReader. Now I can cut the chapters I need to read each week out of my textbook PDF, upload them to ElevenReader, and listen to them wherever I am and whatever I’m doing. There’s other free services that do this, supposedly, so make sure you research that before committing to their paid version. I suspect I will end up paying for this, though, because the convenience of being able to have an app that I listen to on my phone is so great.

I don’t use it a lot but it’s a really good app
Once they make some fixes this will be the best app of its kind.
I really love how I can customize the voices on here. My biggest gripe is the bugs while trying to listen to a kindle book. There’s always an unknown error stopping the reading. If they can find a way for the entire text of the book to be uploaded to the platform like on the peech app it would easily be the best.

I found the app recently and it’s been amazing. I have ADHD and it has been helping me a lot in reading technical articles and more complex books. I really want to work at the ElevenLabs company one day :D

Definitely not free
Better make sure you cancel your free trial as soon as you agreed to it because I’m $100 poorer for an app that is absolutely not worth the money. And word to the wise do not request a refund via their system call The overseas customer service. I can’t believe I had to pay these idiots. $100 for a pointless feature that I will never really use. Thanks Instagram for the ad that I fell for.

I mean, what is there to say? It’s super good for reading novels, and writing your own stuff too. No complicated settings, just boom, and you’re in.
1.11.31 update went wrong
This app used to be decent.
A solid & consistent app, easy to navigate, didn’t crash etc.
It was always rough around the edges, for an app that plays media it’s pretty terrible at organizing said media. And that hasn’t changed. Big bummer there.
What seems to have made it worse in recent days is how the voices are inconsistent.
For example they seem to fade in and out at random times, almost as if the voice speaking is getting further away from a microphone. Given the purpose of this app you can see why that shouldn’t happen.
The other thing that’s gotten worse is the app’s “memory” in that, say you pick a voice for one book, put down the book, and start a new one with a new voice, then go back to book 1. The new voice sticks around even if it’s the old book.
And then, you change it to the old voice, but when you step away and reopen the app, the new voice comes back. It’s like I’m being haunted by the new guy in town.
I’m impressed with the voice generator, I can be picky about “who” reads my books.
But the experience of navigating and using the app is frankly appalling and making me consider finding an alternative.
I can only assume this is a result of the latest update, so I sincerely hope it gets fixed.

Great App!
I love the this app! I love that I can listen to my epubs when I too busy to read them. The only issue I have is sometimes I will go back to a book and it will start at the beginning and I will have to scroll and find where I left off.
Amazing Reading Experience
This app is truly amazing. I love reading and listening at the same time, and I’ve been able to finish so many more books because of it. The voices sound incredibly natural and pleasant. I’m really looking forward to the day when the AI can automatically distinguish dialogue from narration and give characters different voices for an even more immersive experience. I really hope this becomes possible someday!
