full of bugs
looks sleek on the surface but is actually quite buggy and somewhat difficult to navigate when scrolling thru blocks of text. it was worse prior to the update wherein a too-long slip of the finger would switch up which part of the text the audio reads. the narrators are obviously AI which has both its pros and cons; the pro being it sounds less robotic than the free text-to-speech apps i’ve used in the past and the con being inconsistent pronunciations of common names within the same passages. the narration also turns off erratically, even without setting a timer. you have to manually return to the app sometimes to get the narration going again. the audio follows the text until a certain point and you have to click a bunch of random buttons to exit and re-enter a file so you can see which part the narration is reading off from.

What is free?
Every time I try to open a book, it won’t play even the ones that say is 0.00. All I get is a Preview reminding me to download a PDF. And the screen that pops up it says I can try it Free but then it’s 99.99 Perhaps it’s operator error.

I just downloaded it and i already love it. Only got one request. I got a bunch of books in my apple books. Most of them are off free websites and most my pdfs are on there as well. Can you please make it where the book will upload to eleven reader? I have so many books id like to listen to while working!!! Please. Thanks.

Not Free as Advertised
I didn’t think I had to pay for this product and yet there is a few days trial and then bam, $99 annual fee. You all need to be honest with your advertising!
Accessible and Free
okay, when I first downloaded this app, I was honestly irritated. Because of my reading disability, I had already gone through 4–5 different read-aloud apps just trying to find one that actually worked. every single time, the natural sounding AI voices were locked behind an expensive paywall, making it even harder for people with disabilities to access something as basic as reading and learning.
BUT BOY WAS I SO WRONG ABOUT ELEVENREADER
ITS ACTUALLY FREE???!seriously, don't listen to those other read aloud apps charging $20–30 a month just to unlock decent AI voices. ElevenReader gives you high quality, natural sounding voices without putting them behind a paywall, and it has made such a huge difference for me. it’s helped me understand what I'm reading, stay focused, and actually enjoy learning again.
and honestly? the paid subscription is reasonably priced too. I'm genuinely considering subscribing not because I have to, but because I want to support the developers for making an app that's truly accessible instead of treating accessibility like a premium feature.

Wonderfully realistic speech makes everything more enjoyable
I love the new features that are added, but it does seem like each update introduces weird new bugs that make using it hard at times. Latest issue is fast forwarding sometimes randomly jumps playback to some random point far earlier.
Stupid violation
I pay for this app just to get violations on Books that have nothing to do with the violations I’m getting (child safety) I even made another account to get rid of the violations, but it says on a completely different fiction book. I don’t recommend this if you read fiction romance books it just makes you feel icky when you get a violation like that!

It gets annoying that I have to take a picture of each and every page and the AI still gets some words wrong but it’s still a good reading app

Beware Scam
Signed up for the free trial to see if it liked the app. It was ok, but didn’t like it enough to continue beyond the free trial. Guess what? There’s no way to cancel the subscription. Then bam, charged for a full year. After the charge hit, I can now cancel. Scammers. Guess I should have known.

It helps me a lot to read better
Pretty cool, but some extra controls would be helpful.. and em dashes
This is quite a surprising model and probably the best I’ve tried. I often use it to read back my own work while writing. It’s a fantastic way to hear pace, cadence, etc, while also a really great way to find typos that aren’t misspellings. I do wish it handled em —dashes—. As it stands, anything inside an em dash is all compressed together into one single word. Which, isn’t very helpful and suddenly breaks the rhythm. Heck, I’d be okay if it simply treated em dashes as parenthetical. Also, sometimes the model will see the context of a character’s speech and punctuation, (eg: he shouted, “blah!” And the model reads it louder ) but often it ignores what the text is indicating. What would be even more helped if the model could for of scan the text around dialogue and try to infer what the dialogue should sound like, which is a big ask… short of that, if I could select some text (dialogue or otherwise) and have 4 or 5 options indicating how is should be read (eg. Quiet, thoughtful, concerned, scared, alarmed, sinister, etc) but only for that selection. Because the next paragraph might not need that inflection. Otherwise, this is a very cool tool. Impressive.
