What's New in Emergency

5.4.0

July 27, 2026

We've listened to your feedback and continue to improve the Emergency app. This release includes improved location search, a redesigned Maps tab that displays Red Cross shelters and service sites with unique icons to make assistance easier to find — even if you haven't added a location — and a directly interactive Services Available banner that reduces the number of taps needed to find help.

Lake Ontario

i'm sure this app is useful, but I reject the politicization of a map
I believe most Americans believe changing the name of Lake Ontario is completely disrespectful not only to the populations of our country and Canada, but of native people's

Maps screen is unusable on iPad due to stuck pop-up

There appears to be an iPad-specific bug on the Maps screen. When I tap Maps on my iPad, the “Find Red Cross shelters and services” pop-up appears, but it cannot be dismissed. Neither the X nor the Explore Services button responds, leaving the map inaccessible.

I’ve force-quit the app, restarted my iPad, changed orientation, and tried repeatedly with no success. I also tested the same feature on my iPhone, where it works correctly and the pop-up can be dismissed normally. I’m including a screenshot from the iPad showing the issue.

Since this appears isolated to the iPad version, hopefully that helps identify the problem. For an emergency preparedness app, reliable access to the map is especially important. Please investigate and fix the iPad interface.

Very awesome!!

This app is very helpful and I highly recommend downloading it! It gives alerts to your phone and verbally tells you the emergency that is going on when there’s a tornado ect.
