False pretences
Response from developer
Hello Ashc1973, and thank you for your feedback. I understand the confusion, but this app is simply the English version of the Heritage Map Project, which exists in several variants such as French Heritage Map and American Heritage Map. The resemblance to the English institution's name is purely coincidental and unfortunate. I've tried to add several disclaimers to make this as clear as possible (in the app description, settings, and various screens), but I understand it wasn't enough. Where do you think a disclaimer would have been most effective for you? I'm absolutely not trying to profit unfairly - I'm just a solo developer doing what I can to help people discover historic heritage. The Pro subscription doesn't even cover 10% of what I've personally invested in this project! If you purchased a Pro subscription expecting something else, please reach out to gregory.carte.du.patrimoine@gmail.com and I'd be happy to refund you. The last thing I want is for anyone to feel misled. Thank you again for your helpful feedback, and I wish you a wonderful 2026 full of historic discoveries!
Disappointed
Response from developer
Thank you for sharing your concerns. To clarify, this app is not affiliated with or operated by the English Heritage organisation. It is simply the English-language version of the independent “Heritage Map” project, which exists in multiple countries under the same concept. The app does not manage memberships, set prices, control access to sites, or receive funding from English Heritage or any similar organisation. It is intended solely as a general map to help people discover heritage locations. Your feedback about membership costs and customer treatment is understandable, but it would need to be directed to English Heritage directly in order to reach the appropriate organisation.
Poor search facilities
Response from developer
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. You’re absolutely right that searching by postcode and setting a search radius would be useful features, especially when planning visits in a specific area. This is constructive input, and I do take it seriously. The project is developed independently and iteratively, and feedback like this directly informs what gets improved next. The interface and search experience are areas I’m actively reviewing, and your comments help highlight where the app is currently falling short for real users. I appreciate you being candid about what didn’t work well for you, it’s the kind of feedback that leads to meaningful improvements. :)
Amazing App
Response from developer
Thank you for the kind words, I’m really glad the app proved useful to you. Making it easy to discover nearby monuments and explore them visually was exactly the intention, so it’s great to hear that those features landed well. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a positive review.
Simple, free and helpful
Response from developer
Thank you for sharing this, I’m glad the app helped you discover places you didn’t realise were nearby. Keeping it accessible and useful without locking basic exploration behind a paywall is a deliberate choice, so it’s encouraging to hear that this approach made a difference for you. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review.
