Buggy + awful interface

App never wants to open. Always have to delete and reinstall and most of the time even that won’t work. When it does work, the interface is awful. No ability to search saved recipes so just have to scroll and scroll until you find what you’re looking for. God awful user experience

Subscription required

Just the download is free, everything else needs a subscription. Nothing wrong with that, but say that in the description rather than bait and switch

Great Recipe Box

This app is great. I do wish there was a way to make notes private.

The app doesn’t seem to want to open anymore

I love this app and have loads of recipes stored in it, but lately it refuses to open. I have tried deleting and reinstalling it but it still won’t.

Suggestion!

Hi! I love cooking with Epicurious. What i think would be cool is if you guys had a roulette button on the app. There are SO many recipes & this could be a fun way to get exposed to all of them ( and take the pressure off of scrolling/ deciding what to make)

Love the recipes, not the app

For the life of me, I can’t get this app to load. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, restarted my phone and tried every troubleshooting option I could think of and nothing works. The web option works great but the app is like a really really bad soufflé

Worth the $

Purchased the premium version of this app after several bad recipes from Instagram, and has been worth it. I also love seeing the recipes on the bon appétit channel and knowing I can come here and get them and make them.

App stops music from playing

Whenever I go into the app, it stops whatever music or podcast I have playing on my phone. It’s pretty annoying when trying to listen to music while cooking dinner. Other than that it’s a good app

Recipe Good, function not

This app is good because it has recipes from some of the best cooking magazines. This app is also good because it has really good user reviews of each recipe so you can learn modifications. This app is bad because you can’t store by food type and meal and you can’t sort by most reviewed just most stars which could be 5 stars with 1 user or 500 users you can’t sort it that way

It’s okay

For $5/month it should be way better. There is no ability to create folders for saved recipes. They are only available by date of save. So if I want that first soup recipe, I have to scroll thru so many recipes. There is no search saved recipes capability either. I’ve started to just download the recipes I want to keep.

Wish the dietary preferences were working

Absolutely love this app i just wish the dietary preferences tab was working. I cant have pork and every third recipe has pork in it. And my partner doesnt like mushrooms and the other third of the recipes have those in it.

Paid Subscription, But the App Doesn’t Work at All

Despite having an all-digital access Condé Nast subscription, I’m completely unable to use the app. It gets stuck during startup and never loads any content. I’ve already contacted customer service four times, and the issue still hasn’t been resolved. This has been a really frustrating and disappointing experience.

Recipes don’t always load

Sometimes I get a result and the actual recipe doesn’t load.

Used to be Great

This app isn’t as good as it used to be, which is a shame

You have to pay.

You have to pay.

Paywall

The fact that you can’t even look at a recipe without paying for a subscription is beyond pathetic. One free week is a total joke imo. Everything is put behind a paywall so they can make money off anyone. If they had, say, 50 free spots of recipes to save, I wouldn’t be so irritated.

lost saved recipes

very disappointed with this app. Search is cumbersome and doesn’t use search criteria specified - get a lot of unrelated “results.” Big disappointment that recipes are missing from my saved favorites. Not sure it is worth the money.

Lacking in function

Great recipes but clearly no investment has been made in the apps functionality. Epicurious should take a good look at the NYT food app.

Great recipes, frustrating app

I’ve used this app for years. It is glitchy and unreliable (e.g., their daily recipe stays the same for several days) sometimes making it a frustrating experience. Great recipes, but the NYT recipeapp has just as good if not better recipes and is an excellent, easy to use app.
