Doesn’t work when needed

The app fails at its basic purpose. I tried to use it in a situation where I needed text to speech, but it gave an error (“OSStatus error -66744”) and wouldn’t function. If an app like this only works sometimes, it’s not reliable enough to be useful. Until this is fixed, I can’t recommend it.

An update is long overdue

This app seriously needs an update. Some languages have lots of issues that’s been fixed in newer versions of espeak and so the libraries need to be updated. Also, it doesn’t support the newest changes in VoiceOver speech settings and automatic language switching doesn’t work. I hope the developer finds the time to make changes to the app.

Only FREE voice pack for Mac

I have Miller Fisher Syndrome which has left me temporarily blind. I wanted to add more voices to the standard MacOS default ones. This app is completely FREE and open source, the dev did a great job. There are around 100 voices to choose from! The only downside is that if you are used to high quality modern TTS voices like the recently updated Siri voices, these voices will sound very primitive. But if you’re trying to get that Stephen Hawking style vibe? Then this app is perfect. You should also download Speak Line from the App Store, as it will provide a cleaner interface to export text and speech into audio files. But you need this app first to hook into the MacOS VoiceOver API or whatever it’s doing behind the scenes to add voices to the main list, without downloading them from Apple in the settings app. There are limits to storage space, as this app is only 13MB on Mac, which is not enough for the fidelity of advanced modern voice models which can require 500MB of storage space. For what it is, this app is fantastic for visually impaired or blind users to add more narration voices to their Mac. I’m sure the rest of you are also tired of Samantha’s voice! Bonus is this app works on nearly everything Apple: Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

Great app

This is a great app and I’m so grateful that after many years using iPhone I can have access to my first language Farsi. Can you please add Persian dictations Thank you
Hi, I’m still waiting for Farsi dictation to be added to the app. Also when I switch to different languages with voiceover, it’s not compatible. I like to hear Alex reading English and espeak the Farsi.

Bad

Error 66744(

As good as it seems, for ios 17 even.

For those who want it, there are now ways to control eloquence for ios 16 into ios 17, simply put, go into the open per voice settings when selecting a voice. And also, thinking of more synthesizers. You could ad dektok for ios because many text to speech obsessed people (including Mckensie Parker on youtube) which doesn't even upload, , , , has probably thought of that. Also, one thing to note, as soon as you put a period at the end of a sentence using voiceover, it sounds like its pausing speech. Please fix that error. Thanks. Note, does not apply to speak selection when using ssml adjustment's sliders.

Love it, but there is one downside

I like that I can finally have voice over to read Armenian texts with ESpeak. However, I need to have ESpeak as a main english voice for it to be able to detect and read Armenian text. I would love for ESpeak to be able to read texts in other detected languages while a Voice from the other Voice Over options is being used for the main language

Need more apps!

And this works great on my iPad! But, how about you also make a new Text to Speech engine come to iOS, it’s called Nv speech player! So; I see what it sounds like on NVDA and then add it to Apple. Even add all of the controls it has except for the volume. that way when you set the volume it goes loud and quiet. But, voice amplitude control might sound like volume a little bit. We should also add ETI Eloquence for IOS app, to control eloquence for iOS 16. And it has control light pitch, inflection, head size, roughness, and brethinis `vy is the control of whispering in the voice. If you turn it to 100 it goes whispering you. I I have to use the code because it makes it easier to know the control is a whisper. in ESpeak in G, you should add more features like the ability to adjust Formans and other variance even non-school Mason Road we ship also add a bunch of NVDA items to come all the way to iOS and iPadOS 16!

Not all English dialects appear in the voiceOver languages section

Hi.
I'd like to start off by saying that the app works very well with voiceOver and is very user friendly.
The only issue I'm facing is that not all of the English accents and dialogs are availible to select as voiceOver languages, though they are availible in the section for Synthesizing text.
Apart from this miner issue, I think this app is brilliant and deserves every one of those 5 stars.
Thank you.
