This has got to be the laziest update ever
This new update is little more than a webview in a wrapper. They would’ve been better off ditching the app altogether and telling users to just use the mobile website.
This isn’t a native app, it is a web browser that can only browser one website.
If Etax paid a consultant for this, I would urge them to get their money back. They’ve been taken for a ride.

You're right that the update is more of a copy of the Etax website. We made the web and app experience more consistent, enabled biometric logins which is a big upgrade in convenience, and made the whole thing more secure, which is very important. Ultimately, we want to give our clients a choice - they can use the app, navigate to our website, or swap between the two (which many users do) and hopefully have a more seamless experience. Don’t bother using Etax. They don’t even submit your deductions, they just process it on myGov.

The app hasn’t been updated for modern phones, so often the button are rendered around the Dynamic Island and are unusable

Uploaded everything from the last FY and my return was incredibly incorrect. Use an actual professional, app is slow and the people behind it are awful.
Login Fault
It would be good if the pin login worked without having to entering it a 1000 times

Needs major changes when it asks over 50 times for me to enter a new pin
Unable to get past pin
Entered pin around 30 times and it doesn’t take you to the next step just keeps going back asking me to enter new pin. I enter and repeat that and it takes me straight back to the first step.

Clearly needs an update. PIN never works. Username / password continually rejected, but miraculously works when logging into account via website. Very frustrating experience.

Can’t even upload documents, just screenshots, not to mention how bad the accountants are at replying! I would never recommend etax to anyone!

It’s not as simple as what it used to be when I log in. I can’t access all my previous years, I can’t reply to an email properly in order to answer questions.

Just thought I would download it instead of using internet browser. Tried to enter tfn and came up with error on it for a minute then deleted it waste of time

Good for messaging only
I just downloaded this to upload a batch of fading receipts which I took photos of before filing my documents.
Low and behold, it does not have a feature to upload your photos and or documents from your phone.
It only accepts taking a photo directly from the app.
The messaging part works fine but anything else is pretty useless.

Can’t access camera roll for receipts
Great idea to have this as an app however in this day and age where nothing is sent to us as a paper copy we are expected to take a photo of a hard copy as there is no option to access your camera roll to get the digital copies you have already screen shot. This app is of no use to me and I can’t use it.

Would have been great to know it cost $20 to install the app. Not happy.
App needs serious Improvements
Should be able to screen shot, upload files from emails or from the device itself. Some fields once you click into them don't have an option to collapse if not required. Never get much back, don't seem to get much advice on how to boost my return.
