Not good enough

The app needs significant improvement. Basic UI/UX principles have not been implemented effectively, and the absence of push notifications is a major oversight.

Shockingly bad app

Horrible app. As a parent, all I want is to see photos of my kid, but instead I have to scroll endlessly, open each picture one by one, and can’t even zoom in. How is this not a basic feature? It screams sloppy engineering, poor feature prioritisation from product management, and a design team that clearly never thought about actual users. Honestly, let ChatGPT redesign it and it would already be ten times better.

Awful App

Antiquated

Needs a modern UI uplift but if someone could, at the very least, fix the ability to scroll through photos without having to individually check each one that would be helpful.

Update: Downgraded to 1 star for the lack of useful updates (there is still no ability to scroll through full-size photos or zoom in, which aren’t features that are difficult to code). Check the change log - the updates that are few and far between are just bug fixes. Other user reviews have highlighted similar issues and the unhelpful copy-and-paste developer response indicates feedback has fallen on deaf ears.

Please, please sort this app out

I see from multiple other reviews that I am not the only person infuriated by the incredibly poor functionality of this app. A scroll/zoom function for photos is THE most basic requirement of an app designed for image-based feedback. You could resolve all the issues described in your poor feedback in a matter of weeks with very little cost - why on earth aren’t you doing something?

Good idea, terrible app

Worth having if you child’s school uses it but unfortunately not a well made app. Clunky to use and poorly designed.

Crashes a lot

Constantly crashes. I can only look at a few observations before it crashes.

Flashing

When viewing photos, they just flash, so much that you cannot see the image.

Has Potential But Riddled with Bugs

So many bugs, crashes and closes and fails to upload home observations most of the time. Some way to go before this is a functional app.

UX is unnecessarily terrible

- Photo upload is using original documents, instead of the edited version, so any edits you made on your phone are disregarded (like rotation, cropping etc)
- Photo gallery is painful to navigate. Why can't I swipe between photos? There are drop-in components for these things!
- Images are "stretched to fit" all over the place. This could not be more simple to fix.
- The whole "creat an observation" journey and screen needs some love. Just look at any social media app and how they create and display posts. You can basically copy that.
- Asynchronous file upload for images. I imagine that impact would have a larger impact, but would significantly improve the UX.
- Seems like pushing new observations also takes a long time. What's the reason for rate limiting this?

My child's school uses this app and I'd like to not resent this app for years to come. I've been designing and developing mobile apps in regulated industries for 15 years and I would be more than happy to help you improve this app. Just let me know.

Amateur app

This app has been designed by amateurs, I am shocked schools are using this.
The design and UX/UI are awful, basic functionality like being able to scroll through photos and zoom in to pictures is not available. No sorting/filter capability either.

Constant glitches

I can’t even scroll through all the photos from the full year it lets me get so far then glitches and ends the app itself, it’s very slow to load you can’t even look through more than one photo at a time when it’s on large screen! I enjoy looking though what my sons doing at school and what he’s learning but I think that things could be improved

Good app but needs improvement

I love being able to see things from my child’s school. The only down falls of this app are not being able to scroll through photos and the app also auto closes after viewing 2 or 3 different observations. There is some room for improvement!

No updates came through for almost the whole school year

My daughters school uses this service. It is now May and only now have all the updates come through! We thought the school only did 2 updates and that was it. Turns out because of a glitch that was an evidence me fault the hundreds of photos and updates throughout the year weren’t coming through. So we have now missed out on seeing photos and understanding what she has been learning all year. I hope they use a different provider next year. Never had this issue with my sons nursery app with EY parent
