What's New in Extreme Calendar

5.28

February 3, 2024

Settings screen updates for iOS 17. Please help support Birdsoft by checking out our new Ulti-Planner calendar app and maybe giving it a review if you like it. It is the next generation of our calendar apps and has a lot of new features we don't have here yet. Currently more resources are going into that application, but we do hope and plan that it's success leads to big updates to Extreme Calendar as well. And let us know if there are things about EC that you would like to see in the Ulti-Planner app. And as always, good reviews help out tremendously to keep this app improving and the updates coming as well.

Sabotaged account

Paid for the app several years ago. Nothing but good things to say about it. Until September 9, 2023. My app suddenly disappeared. Removed from my Apple account. No longer appeared on my phone. Purchased the app again. And all of my calendar events suddenly reappeared. But everything I saved for repeated use was gone. Information I saved for several years. Now had to be re-entered. And at the cost of re-purchasing the app. I am out raged. But who cares right?

Response from developer

Hi, Did you really think this is something we did? I actually think you probably switched your Apple account, as you would not have been charged again by Apple on the same account, Apple is in control of all that. Or you switched between one of our other Extreme titles that you had updated. Sorry this happened to you, but I do not remember hearing from you on our technical support email to try to help.

Disappearing Event Issue

I never responded to the last Birdsoft developer response (thank you for that!), so I thought that I should finish off before any next steps. 😌

I took your points and appreciated almost all of them, although I do not know that it is fair to speak of my expectations for “all” apps. I just know that when I buy one I want it to continue to work. That is just the nature of being a client or consumer, and understandably so. However, I did understand what you were trying to convey. • I expect that you did send out the app update that you mentioned, but the version of Extreme Agenda I was using was the add-on that I purchased through Extreme Week (purple icon). So I did not receive an update there. • Anyway, since I really like that product I am happy to try out the Ultiplanner (sp?) and possibly purchase it. I just hope that this new app will allow me the same ability to display my engagements as icons (instead of words), and that the “Categories” will also sync across all my iOS devices along with the other data (which Extreme Planner just never did somehow). Looking forward to the experience!

There is an ongoing glitch with this calendar that occurs while you have a window open and are configuring an event for the first time (so it is not saved yet). Although the original version of this app did not have this issue, the window that opens when you are creating a new event is quite “bouncy.” By this I mean that the entire date configuration window display can be pulled downwards just by touching the screen and dragging your finger downwards a bit. Then when you let go, the window pops back up to the top of the screen like a rubber band. In the process, anything you entered into that window almost invariably gets erased and you are left with an empty default window. It is as if you had just opened a new event window and had not worked on it yet. So you have to create your event again from scratch. This is a problem not because you are going to intentionally pull downwards on the window while you work, but because it is so easy to do so accidentally. So you have to be so careful about how you touch the screen now and this is like tiptoeing with your fingers. As a user, this is uncomfortable and unnatural. • It occurs to me that perhaps this is what some users were referring to when they mentioned “disappearing events” in their reviews of this product. • I should note that this issue did appear to be fixed at some point two years ago but the problem returned again after a week or two. I just never said anything about it until now.

Thanks again for explaining the glitch, watch for it to be fixed in version 5.20 coming out very soon. Apple created that glitch by defaulting all screens to act in that way by default, thus changing how existing apps worked, which was not a great decision...

Latest Update Is A Big Improvement! 🎉

(6 March 2021): For the past year it has been really difficult to use the calendar, as it was unstable, and events got erased easily & unexpectedly. However, since the latest update, the app has been stabilized and greatly improved. You no longer need to be super careful and delicate when swiping through icons & options and setting up events. What a relief! 😅

I notice two remaining issues:

• The “...” section at the top of the screen, that used to take you to “Settings,” where you could create or remove categories, has disappeared. So not only can you not alter your categories, when you try to set up your color coding, the only choice it gives you is “Calendar.” The “Categories” section appears to be gone so you cannot set up your calendar display using categories (my preferred mode of display).

• The “Subject” Window, still lacks the + and - buttons that used to allow you to remove or make an entry to a list of events that you created (so that you could tap on one and quickly enter a subject for your event). I hope this is restored soon.

In the meantime, thanks for fixing the rest!
