Update Issues? Can't Contribute or View Stats
After updating however, it seems like all of its contribution features are broken.
When the app is opened, I'm greeted with a long loading animation, immediately followed by a timeout error. The score ranking, votes, and upload sections now don't do anything except spend a long time in a wait animation and then fail to show anything at all was loaded.
What does still work (and near-perfectly still) is the existing live object-detection (which hasn't improved at all since I first used the app). Other than that, it seems the update completely broke something with the send-and-receive functionality of the app.
I hope this is just a temporary bug and that a new update fixes this, as I would be more than happy to give it 5 stars again once the functionality is back. As for now, the community functions seem to be unusable.
Here is my former review: I love this app! It allows you to use the optical recognition features, but it also has a feature to participate in the object training and accept or reject others' training data. The more you submit, the higher your score on the leaderboard. I am very happy to see so many people coming together to make a free object recognition software for the vision impaired.
Response from developer
Hi Timbre Sciurus, You’re right — this update broke things, and that’s on us. I’ve personally reviewed what you called out. The contribution features (uploads, voting, leaderboard) are not working the way they should, and we’re actively fixing it right now. This is our top priority. We’re not just patching it — we’re rebuilding parts of the system to make it faster, more stable, and actually worthy of the community that’s been building this with us. Appreciate you calling out that object detection is still solid. That’s core, and we’re pushing that forward too. Give us a little time. We’ll earn the 5 stars back. — Vik, CEO, Eyefront
