Not reliable

Update: Yet again the selected time has come and the app has not alerted me to check in. If the check in feature is not reliable the app is completely useless. This keeps happening on occasion and it only takes one time for it to be disastrous. Funny that after so much time this company can’t fix this simple issue. Hopefully they are coming out with the update they promised, which there is still no sign of, where there is a much greater range of features and check in options, including being personally contacted for people who have no family and no friends. There are many like that Original post: The app does not reliably alert me when it is supposed to. Many nights I will not realize until it’s too late that it has notified my contacts. Another major problem of this app is that apparently, once it has notified your contacts it will not repeat the next day. That feature becomes deactivated. That is a major problem and flawed design. It should notify your contacts every single day until they check on you.

Hello, UPDATE: Dear David, although we do our best, there are technical components that are outside of our control. Like any technical company, we cannot guarantee 100% reliability. Seeing that you first installed the app in 2017, and we've checked in on you about 1,600 times - I think 99% is not bad. As a failsafe, if we do not receive your response for ANY reason (even if your battery is dead), our system still alerts your contacts - so the worst case scenario is a false alarm. I understand you'd also like a service that includes a personal response from an individual, but this is not something we offer. Our system is automated and does not include a human component, as described. Automatically pausing the account is definitely an intended feature requested by many users. Since Apple does not notify us when a user loses their phone or deletes the app, it’s important for us to suspend future false alarms for these cases. We feel it is quite reasonable that users confirm they are OK and are still using the app after we send alerts to their contacts. All the user needs to do is check-in, even if late, so we can send notifications to their contacts that they are alright, and we know to resume service.

It's great...when it works

I live alone and I just need a simple app that makes me check in every 12 hours or so, in order to notify my mom to come feed my cats if I die in the middle of the night or something. I feel so much better knowing that she'll be notified sooner rather than later if something happens to me. Unfortunately, this app is quite glitchy and sometimes stops sending me notifications to check in (common after a phone update), which means either my mom gets a false scare that I didn't check in (it's happened about 20x now in the year that I've had it) or it doesn't send anyone a notification and just stops working! Then I have to reinstall the app and it starts working again. I wish it was a more reliable app. I also wish there was an option to notify contacts after a different time increment of not checking in, like 2 hours as opposed to 30 minutes. Sometimes I am driving during check in and can't get to it within 30 min. However, it's still the best app for this purpose as it's simple and easy to use and doesn't have added junk I don't need.

Hello Christine, we are testing the next version of our app now, and hope to release it within the next few weeks. Please check our FAQ to make sure none of those things are causing your issues, as the app should not be "glitchy", but there are many things in iOS that can interfere with Push Notification delivery, on which we currently rely (future availability of text message check-in/response is also coming). As for the response time increment, that will also be part of the future release, alongside our web-based management system.

Great always but especially now

I got this as a senior but it’s now useful for everyone who lives alone no matter the age.

Response from developer

We're glad you're happy with it. Thank you!

Great customer service

With the new update I had a few issues. They gave me step by step instructions how to fix it. No waiting they were right on it. I use this app morning and night. It texts my son in 30 minutes if I don’t respond to the app.

Response from developer

I'm glad it's working for you now. Thank you for the kind review.

Excellent for those who live alone!

This app makes me feel safer. Without bothering my son all the time, he can know if I am in trouble. It’s very easy to set up the notifications. It reminds me when it’s time to check in. If I don’t check in after two reminders, then he is notified. So I feel like I am less of a burden. And he feels better knowing I am safe.
The best feature is the customer service. After one update, I had a problem. I contacted the developer, and they immediately contacted me back. They explained how to fix the problem, and it worked beautifully. Having such quick quick and accurate response is worth everything.

Best app team in the business-

I appreciate their constant improvement and support of the site

Response from developer

Thank you! Glad you are happy with the service.

Easy to Use: Excellent Support

I was initially surprised at how simple this app is but have come to appreciate that as a feature.

What made me a big fan, however, was the support team’s very quick response to my query about a glitch that happened when my iPhone iOS updated. They responded almost immediately, suggested a workaround while they fixed the glitch, and completed the fix without delay.

Thank you so much for the kind words. We are glad to hear that the app does what you need, and we will give our support team a pat on the back!

I like this app

This app does what I need it to do. It gives me peace of mind, since I live alone. I’m worried about falling, or having a stroke and no one finding me fit days. With this set for 8 am and 8 pm at least I know it won’t be more than 12 or so hours. Thank you so much.

Response from developer

We are so glad you like it, and that it provides you with some peace of mind. Thank you for the kind review.

It... does the job

It does what it claims to do, in a minimal sort of way.

I am baffled that it does not present actionable notifications! Instead of simply pressing the notification to acknowledge it, you have to open the app - on the phone - wait for it to prompt you, then acknowledge. It’s such a small change, and it would make such a huge difference. E.g., Apple Watch support would come almost for free.

Some flexibility in the “window” for prompt acknowledgements would be nice- right now it’s fixed at half an hour.

Please look into making the notifications present while CarPlay is active too - I almost missed one while driving.

Hello, Thanks for the feedback. We are adding the actionable notification currently. We hope to release the new version with this soon.

Buy the App

At first I had a problem with the app because I wasn’t exactly sure how to use it. The instructions could be better. However, the App Team was really good, and patient, at helping me to get it set up and working correctly. I would recommend buying this app.

Response from developer

Thanks for the kind words. We are glad that it's working for you. The next version of our app will include a more detailed Info page that will better explain the different features.

Great App

Love the app, wish it had iwatch support so I don’t miss push notifications to phone when it’s in my purse. THANK YOU!

Works fine

There were some issues initially with multiple pop ups asking if I was okay, but this was responded to and fixed pretty quickly by the developer so now it works fine. Definitely gives me peace of mind knowing others will be contacted if I don’t respond to the notice.

Response from developer

Hello J.Val. Thank you for the comments. We have a new version coming later this week that will resolve the issue you described. If you have any trouble, you can always contact us at support@eyeonapp.com, or check the FAQ on eyeonapp.com. Thank you!

Update ruined it. 6/20/18

This was working fine until the recent overhaul. Now it doesn’t allow the person to acknowledge the alarm, doesn’t alert caregivers when the alarm isn’t answered or sends alerts when alarm was answered. This is now unreliable. Will have to delete and find something new.

Up and running

I rescind my previous “terrible” review now that I have my contacts entered in these in turn have replied. I haven’t scheduled an alert but trust the initial phase is over and I can rely on the intended peace of mind.

Response from developer

Sorry you experienced this problem. It sounds like an installation problem. Can you please delete the app and install it again. Also, please contact our Support at support@eyeonapp.zohodesk.com. I am confident we can get the app working for you.

Care Providers?

While configuring the app, I was thinking “doctor” when asked to enter care provider. I suggest you change “care provider” to another term, such as “emergency contact” or maybe just “contact,” or “contact person.”

Response from developer

Thank you for the note. We don't want it to be confusing, so we will review the wording there. UPDATE: We have listed to you and changed the wording in the latest update.

Easy to use, but few features

Very easy to use, and what it does it does very well. However, it lacks the ability to customize the email message to be sent if you do not respond. Other than that it's a great app for anyone who lives alone.

Response from developer

Thank you for the review. We will review the possibility of adding in the ability to customize the email. Thank you for the suggestion. UPDATE: We have listed to your request and added this feature into the latest version.

Thanks for following up and helping me!

Everything is working good now!

Response from developer

Thanks for the comment. Sliding the Notification to the right will open the app. On the latest iOS version you can "firmly" press the Notification to get the OK button. HOWEVER, sliding the Notification to the left only clears the Notification without sending our servers any message. Please slide to the right to open the app or "firmly" press the Notification to get the OK button directly.

Thank You

This app is exactly what I am looking for! I live alone with my elderly dog. I'm active, in and out all day. My concern is how long will it take for someone to find/help my dog (or me)? The other options all seem to include calls to 911 which is too much of a response. What if the 911 call happens and the only reason I did not respond to the notification is because the phone is on silent while I'm in the movies!? Now I know my friends/family will be aware of my need for a check-in if I fail to respond to the notification. It would be nice to have a simple "pause" function for times like the movies or a party where you can't hear the phone but it is easy enough to temporarily cancel the notification and then re-instate the notification.

Hello, We have listed to your feedback and the latest version of the app includes this functionality. Thank you.

Great Idea

This app is exactly what I needed. I often go for days without speaking to anyone. This app provides assurance that my pets are cared for if something happens to me. It has been buggy a few times saying it did not connect to the server. Also, a loading loop displayed for 12 minutes. I guess it was frozen

Peace of mind

Easy to set up, and my family is comforted knowing this app will let them know if I don't respond. I like that I can decide a convenient time that the app checks on me.
