I Hope Fare Co-op Succeeds, But Please Learn from Y Driver

I downloaded your app and spent some time reading both the driver reviews and your team's responses.

I can see that your company is real, and I sincerely hope you succeed.

I have been driving for Uber for 10 years and for Lyft for nearly 10 years, so I have seen many changes in this industry.

A few years ago, another rideshare company called Y Driver appeared. It also promoted a driver-friendly vision and promised to treat drivers better than Uber and Lyft. Unfortunately, it did not survive.

I strongly encourage your team to study why Y Driver failed. As someone who has been driving in this industry for nearly a decade, I'm concerned that your company may be repeating some of the same mistakes that caused Y Driver to fail.

Having a great mission and treating drivers fairly are important, but they are not enough to build a sustainable rideshare platform.

The real questions are:

• Can you attract enough passengers?
• Can you keep enough active drivers?
• Can you generate enough trips every day?
• Can you build a business model that can survive for many years?

Drivers don't need another company with a great slogan. Drivers need a company that is still here five or ten years from now.

If Fare Co-op succeeds, drivers win. If Fare Co-op fails, drivers lose another choice.

I'm writing this because I genuinely want you to succeed, not because I want to criticize you. Please learn from the companies that came before you, avoid repeating the same mistakes, and build something that can truly last.

Good luck.

I heard about this app on the radio and figured I’d try it out. It won’t even let me make an account unless I have a referral code (which I don’t) so I can’t even try out the app. So annoying

Irresponsible owner

Drivers have been driving without comercial insurance since last year and no one was aware of this problem. Drivers and riders were exposed to financial irresponsibility from the company so call leaders. Don’t trust this app

Waste of time and resources

If you signed up and don't see results. That it works why bother. I signed up some people, unfortunately they were from out of state. That means I won't be seeing a single ride. Even people, say they can't trust something that sounds promising or too good to be true. Sorry I have lost faith in fare, ever since I was an approved I only seen two rides popped up. I've only seen activity here on the Fare group.

San Diego Driver

San Diego driver here and I'm raking it in with Fare Coop! My earnings are consistently higher than with other platforms. The app is slick, the passengers are great, and the payouts are on point. If you're a driver in SD looking to boost your income, give Fare Coop a shot – you won't regret it!

Driver

Had been using the app since February 2025 and it’s working good! Love the favorite driver feature which has help to get more rides! Highly recommend!!!

App works great !! And shows me my Referral income !!

This app compared to the other guys actually works really good considering it’s only been out for a few months. And I see they keep improving it with each and every update that I download. What I love is, I get a clear receipt at the end of every ride that tells me exactly where every cent and Penny went from what the customer paid to All the fees, and everything else, including what I earned on my ride. And I also love the fact that I also love that I can see all the Drivers and customers that I referred and how much I am earning on all of those referrals using my referral code when I signed them up. This rideshare opportunity is amazing !!! and will be signing up more and more drivers and customers while earning 85%.!!!! an earning a residual income on every driver and customer I signed up for life :)

My retirement

FareCoop is the app I’ve been waiting for-initially i choose to drive for 1 penny then I learned I earn even more by buying a full share - even more, my referrals are bringing in $300 monthly passive income - my goal is to increase that number $2,000- the negative is that I had to actively go where drivers hang and recruit- I am shy and found speaking to drivers challenging - it became easier once I took time to understand how the passive income referral’s works and how each full share holder can own their own driverless car- I will keep earning from rocking chair-recruiting passengers was easy - passenger, wanted to support drivers- upon learning that they too can earn passive income is icing on the cake-

They make you pay for your own background check scam y’all

They make you run your own background check. Which is crazy because it the stage of California folks aren’t suppose to pay for they own background check the company is suppose to. With that said I will not be paying to work that doesn’t make since at all. Don’t waste your time y’all, your better off with Uber, Lyft and Hopskipdrive but fare driver not worth your time. Trust I am pretty sure this app is a scam!

Response from developer

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback — and we're genuinely sorry to hear you had this impression. To clarify: Fare Co-op is not a scam. We’re a fully licensed Transportation Network Company (TNC) in the State of California, and unlike Uber, Lyft, or HopSkipDrive, we’re a driver-owned and funded cooperative — not backed by billion-dollar venture capital. Because we’re not funded by deep-pocketed investors, we don’t have a massive budget to cover the costs of thousands of background checks up front. That’s why we ask drivers to pay for their own background checks through a trusted third-party service. This helps us keep the platform sustainable, fair, and transparent — without deducting hidden fees from your earnings. We make this clear on our website and during the signup process, and we understand it may not be the norm people are used to. We respect your decision either way and sincerely appreciate you taking the time to check us out. If you ever decide to learn more or give us another look, we’re here to help at info@fare.coop. — Fare Co-op Support Team

Scam

They use the same tactics and manipulation as Lyft does , they promised 90% earrings to the divers and them they switch to 85% after taxes and other fees. Just like Lyft does , you can promise me %100 after taxes and other fees still don’t convince me , if you are creating a business it is your responsibility to have and take care of your expenses such as comercial insurance just like us as drivers are responsable to have our vehicles insured

Response from developer

Hi there, Thanks for your feedback. We want to clarify a few important points: Our website clearly states that drivers earn 85–90% of the fare after taxes, processing fees, and insurance costs — we’ve never claimed otherwise. Transparency is one of our core values, especially as a driver-owned and funded cooperative, not a corporation like Uber or Lyft. If you already have your own commercial insurance — which most rideshare drivers do not — you qualify for the Black Car category, and no additional insurance fees would apply to your rides. However, if you don’t carry commercial insurance, California law requires us to provide coverage for your rides, and that cost must be factored in. We fully respect your decision if our model doesn’t work for you. But it’s important to note: Fare Co-op is not shifting costs to drivers in secret — we’re simply complying with legal requirements and being up front about them. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to us directly at info@fare.coop. — Fare Co-op Support Team

Excited to Be a Fare Driver

I love the model of Fare Coop. The techs were quick to respond to my 2 or 3 app issues to resolve them. I emailed them at the email on fare.coop and had resolution within about 24 hours. That’s great customer service.

Traveling at the Speed of Awesome

Finally, a Rideshare startup that actually does more than what they promise…over and over I have seen the dark side.. Driver owned MEANS Drivers First.

Take notes Uber… this is where your drivers are going and happy again.
