While you don’t win warnings from FEMA, it’s good to be warned.
Needs dark mode
Open this during a blackout and that bright white background will be a shock to the retinas. Also, a dark background can offer some battery savings so it’s logical to implement a dark mode. The Environment Canada app has dark mode. Why doesn’t FEMA?
Keeps crashing
I have had this app on my phone for a long time and always appreciated the warnings

All Notifications All the Time
This app is great for weather alerts. However, even if I turn certain alerts off, they still come through. I get inundated with way too many notifications that I quit paying attention. Definitely not ideal for an emergency application. Just show me tornados. 🙄🌪️
Bug that has been happening for several months. New update does not fix.
I get notifications about alerts but they do not show up in the app, so I can’t see the actual contents of the alerts.
Efficient and seems accurate
I have downloaded several different weather apps over the years. They often come with video ads, especially lately. The FEMA app is different. I’ve not encountered any ads thus far! There are only two apps that currently provide me with the alerts I find helpful: this FEMA and another one. I think I’m actually going to delete the other app because it has ads and the FEMA app works so well! Despite living outside the city limits, this app appears to be accurate. Enjoy!

But lately when I get notifications of events such as “severe weather warning” and I open the app, I’m told there are “no active alerts.” How can I get essential details on these weather warnings?

As a former emergency manager, this app is a great resource for keeping aware of impending hazardous weather conditions, and how to prepare for other hazards such as earthquakes, flooding, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Highly recommend!

[2026-01-23] For people who aren’t seeing alerts, try updating your zip code.
One issue: I look out for multiple people in different places and have reasonable need for more locations than the app allows. I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to make this so limited, but please up the limit to at least a dozen.

FEMA App Review
The FEMA App is easy to use and provides timely emergency alerts in one place. The notifications and tips are helpful during any situations. Improving alert customization and offline access would make the app even more effective.

Same issue as a previous poster. FEMA APP has worked well for me for year in Alaska. Feels like the last 3-6 months I get notifications - then open the app and nothing there. Weather.gov def has concerns for my area of Alaska. Get the app working for Alaska again 5 stars - getting notifications with no details on the app 1 star thus the 3

It has been very accurate for many weeks.
Previously useful - now a potential waste.
This app was something I used for situation awareness, however it has dramatically changed recently. Alerts are now received, however when the app is opened to review the entire alert - the home page shows no related detail information. It is unfortunate that this previously useful tool is now lacking.
