About

Ferry moves files between your iPhone or iPad and the machines on your local network (your NAS, home server, or desktop) over SMB and SFTP. Open it, pick a host, move a file. That's it. No accounts. No cloud round-trip. No ads. Nothing leaves your network. WHAT IT DOES • Connects over SMB (SMB2/3) and the SSH family (SFTP/SCP) • Finds hosts automatically — anything advertising SMB or SSH on your Wi-Fi shows up under "On your network" via Bonjour • Saves connections so the next transfer skips the login • Password or SSH key auth — import an OpenSSH key and connect key-only • Browse both sides: your device's files and the remote host, with size and modified date • Tap to transfer, or multi-select a batch • A Transfers screen with per-job progress, a queue, and retry on failure • Warns before overwriting a file that already exists • Open local files with the system QuickLook hand-off • Adaptive by design: a clean single pane on iPhone, a true side-by-side dual pane on iPad NOT A FILE MANAGER Ferry does one job. It is not a cloud client, not a media player, not a "manage your whole NAS" suite. Browse, transfer, and basic delete — nothing more. Scope discipline is the whole point. • No Dropbox / Drive / S3 / iCloud connectors • No in-app editing or archive browsing • No server mode — your device is a client, it does not host its own share One honest note on iOS: transfers run while Ferry is open. If you leave the app, iOS suspends it and active transfers pause — Ferry keeps the screen awake during a transfer and tells you this plainly. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No accounts, no sign-up, no backend — there is no Ferry server to phone home to • No analytics, no crash SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no telemetry • Saved hosts and metadata stay in the app's local container • Passwords and SSH private keys live in the iOS Keychain and never leave your device • Ferry only opens connections to the hosts you configure Requirements: iOS 17 or later. iPhone and iPad. Free.
