Don’t say are you enjoying fires people who enjoy fires are fire setters usually!!!!!!!!!
could be great
Response from developer
You're absolutely right - that's exactly what a fire app should do: show a simple map with active wildfires and display containment status when clicked. July 2023 was when Cal Fire changed their data formatting, breaking that basic functionality you rightfully expected. Unlike competitors who manually compile fire information (simpler but delayed), we provide direct access to official Cal Fire containment databases - which means when they change their data structure without notice, essential features like containment percentages stop working until we can rebuild our integration. The "no longer user-friendly" experience you had was our direct connection breaking when agencies modified their systems. We faced a choice: switch to simplified manual data entry (user-friendly but potentially outdated during critical moments), or maintain direct official access and rebuild our systems to handle agency changes automatically. We chose to preserve immediate access to verified containment percentages from Cal Fire's operational database. The current version provides exactly what you want: a clean map showing active wildfires with official containment status, fire size, and current conditions displayed when clicked. We've rebuilt the interface to be bulletproof against government system changes while maintaining the comprehensive official data that makes informed decisions possible. You said it "could be great" - it now IS great with the simple, reliable interface you described while preserving the direct official access that provides accurate containment percentages. Please update to experience the user-friendly design with professional-grade data you deserve.

Great app
Has potential but…
too complicated
Must Have if you live in fire-prone areas
Nice to keep on top of fires
Updated satellites!
Response from developer
We're glad we could restore your satellite access! When the NWS upgraded their GOES satellite system, it broke compatibility for many apps - not just ours. Unlike companies with large development teams, we're a small operation providing professional-grade data access at consumer prices. We had to completely rewrite our satellite integration to match NWS's new protocols. This is exactly why we maintain this app despite the challenges - satellite imagery is critical for fire assessment, and we refused to just remove the feature when it broke.
Cool
Exciting times for this tool to be made available. Thanks.
One Downside
-Edit: like the developer said the issue has been resolved, thank you very much!

The issue appears to have been resolved by the NIFC, so try the map again.
app appears to be working now
Crashes with iOS 18
The developer suggested I get the latest update but I already have that.
10.9.24 Update, I got another update and apparently it cured the problem so it works again.
