Hi Jackie, thank you for your feedback! We are sorry you were surprised about the once per week assessment model, and I can completely understand your frustration. We intentionally designed First Choice Assessment to be used just once per week. Parents and children can then spend the rest of the week off the screen, practicing new skills with the recommended activities tailored to your child’s individual progress. Based on our experience, assessments most accurately reflect a child’s knowledge if they are introduced on a weekly schedule. We have seen that the results of children who complete multiple assessments in one sitting may not be as accurate or reflective of their knowledge. By introducing just one five-minute assessment per week, children are able to give their full attention to the weekly assessment. Additionally, in order for you to see meaningful improvement, it is important to give your child time to learn and practice new skills before you assess them again. That’s why we build in an 8-12 week growth period into the schedule before your child is assessed on the same skill again.
