FogMap turns the real world into your private fog-of-war map. The idea for FogMap came from a simple need: I wanted an app that would show the areas I had uncovered on a map. I did not want my location data sent to outside servers, I did not want ads, social features, leaderboards, or achievement-style rewards, and I did not want another monthly subscription. So I started building the kind of app I wanted to use myself: a simple, private exploration map that focuses on the map itself. Move through the world and reveal the map tile by tile. Tiles you have uncovered remain visible, while the rest of the map stays covered in fog. FogMap is built for simple, private exploration. There are no accounts, ads, social feeds, leaderboards, or server-side location tracking. Your exploration data stays on your device. Rather than points or achievements, FogMap focuses on a grid that shows the areas you have uncovered over time. Features: • Reveal the world as you walk, drive, travel, and move through your everyday surroundings. • Mark places that matter with notes - add one at your current location or by long-pressing the map, then browse and search them all from the tools drawer. • Start a reveal session on a fresh map to capture a single trip, hike, or day. Save it to your Archive and revisit it anytime, while your main map keeps filling in underneath. • Keep everything on your device, with no account required. • Use FogMap without a monthly subscription. • Choose a base cell size to make your map finer or broader. • Tune how map detail adapts as you zoom out, from the point where cells begin to combine to the coarsest view FogMap can show. • Battery-conscious background tracking automatically enters a low-power idle mode when you stay in one place. • Export and import your map data with the optional one-time Full unlock.
