About

Foil Run helps riders capture GPS tracks from wingfoil, downwind, kite, and paddle sessions, then analyze the ride in a private Foil Run account. Start a recording on iPhone or Apple Watch, choose your apparatus, and save the session locally. When you are signed in, completed recordings can upload to Foil Run so the web analysis cockpit can estimate wind, split climbs and runs, and show performance metrics such as speed, angles, and VMG. The Apple Watch recorder starts a workout only while you are actively recording. It uses the workout session to keep GPS and live heart rate available with the wrist down, mirrors live state to the paired iPhone when available, then discards the Health workout when recording ends.

What's New in Foil Run

1.1

September 12, 2026

Foil Run now tells you when a ride needs you. If a recording is refused, or looks like it was on land and needs your decision, you get one notification promptly. Rides that are still saving or waiting for signal stay quiet. On Apple Watch, wind at Start can use a chosen spot or repeated launch history ahead of the forecast. The ride face, Stop control, and recap fit 40 mm screens more comfortably. App updates no longer bring back the first-open permissions sheet. On Home, a ride that needs you shows first. When analysis cannot accept a ride, the app says so instead of promising another automatic retry.
