Snap once, logged. Photograph a meal — calories and macros before the food gets cold, then into Apple Health (including alcoholic drinks).
FoodCam is an iOS food logging app: photograph a meal, and AI identifies the food, calculates calories and macros, and writes the result to Apple Health. It also logs water and alcohol, with drinks recorded to Apple Health's Number of Alcoholic Beverages — something most calorie trackers do not record at all.
What FoodCam writes to Apple Health
- Dietary energy (dietaryEnergyConsumed)
- Protein (dietaryProtein)
- Carbohydrates (dietaryCarbohydrates)
- Fat (dietaryFatTotal)
- Water (dietaryWater)
- Alcoholic beverages (numberOfAlcoholicBeverages)
Sync is two-way once authorised, so meal records can be restored from Apple Health.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can it log alcohol to Apple Health?
A: Yes. When you record a drink, FoodCam writes it to Apple Health's Number of Alcoholic Beverages, where it appears alongside the drinking trends in the Health app.
Q: Does it need an internet connection?
A: No. FoodCam includes an on-device analysis engine — Vision image recognition with Apple Intelligence models on iOS 26 and later, plus a local database of 92 foods. When you are offline, or your cloud allowance is used up, analysis falls back to the device so logging never stops.
Q: What do you get without paying?
A: Your first 7 days of high-accuracy cloud analysis are free and unlimited; after that, analysis continues on-device without limit and cloud analysis needs Premium. Logging, Apple Health sync, fasting tracking, charts and widgets are all free. Premium gives unlimited cloud analysis, the full AI nutrition report, the goal advisor and data export.
Q: Which eating styles are supported?
A: Four — balanced, low-carb, high-protein and keto, switchable at any time in settings.
Q: Does it track intermittent fasting?
A: Yes, including 16:8, 18:6 and 20:4, with a live timer, Live Activities and Dynamic Island support.
