Was Working Fine but….

Installed the App to monitor Solar Power Generation for my home. Initially worked well but now the illustration shows power from The Grid when I’m actually sending it in the opposite direction direction and it’s not showing how much is being generated by the roof panels. Temporary? I do hope so as I’m relying on it to claim back from my energy supplier.

Display issues again

Yet again the display issue has reared its ugly head
Completely messed up for an iPad
This company appear to undertake no beta testing and checks before releasing both app updates and hardware updates

Won’t even allow me to register. Rubbish app.

Just bought solar power and need to use this app and it won’t even send me a registration email. What a load of rubbish.

Continuing to drop out on my iPhone 15.

The app. is almost useless as every time a try to use it the app drops out and I have to re-log in. Tried uninstalling and re-installing. No change. The previous versions worked fine, now it is useless for monitoring our solar production. We had our solar installed 2 years ago.

Variable function

When it works it’s fine but after updates the App often won’t connect. Very frustrating.

Good when it works

Good app, with relevant functionality. But it frequently does not connect (displays offline), and since v2.2.17, I’ve not been able to connect at all, despite deleting/ reinstalling.
Please can stability be prioritised?

Capable hardware, app needs smarter control

The FoxESS 2.0 app has improved visually, but it still feels unfinished for anyone trying to seriously manage a solar and battery system.

The core system data is useful, but the app often feels slow, inconsistent, and confusing. One major issue is the way “Gen Load” and solar production are reported. For many users, especially with hybrid systems, this can make the energy flow hard to understand and can create confusion about what is actually coming from solar, battery, grid, or household load.

Important controls are also not explained well enough. Settings around battery charging, grid import/export limits, charge schedules, and inverter behaviour need clearer labels, better help text, and more transparent reporting.

FoxESS also needs smarter dynamic import charging management. For homes with large batteries, solar, and high household loads, the app should be able to intelligently manage battery charging based on real-time household demand so it does not overload or trip the mains. Ideally this should be AI-assisted or at least automation-driven, dynamically reducing battery charge rate when household usage increases, then ramping it back up when there is available headroom.

Another major improvement would be proper Modbus support over Wi-Fi or LAN, not just via additional RS485 hardware. Many advanced users want reliable local control and monitoring through platforms like Home Assistant. Local Modbus TCP support would make the system faster, more reliable, and far less dependent on cloud polling.

For a product that manages expensive home energy hardware, the app needs better real-time visibility, clearer scheduling tools, better error messages, proper explanations for advanced settings, smarter tariff-aware charging controls, and proper local integration options.

The hardware itself appears capable, but the app experience lets it down. Good potential, but it needs serious polish to match the quality expected from a modern solar battery platform.

Worse and worse

The forced discharge has been broken for months now, instead of reverting to self use as it used to, it now reverts to grid import until the end of the forced discharge time. Why would I want to be importing at the most expensive time of day to retain the minimum %??? I could live with that until the latest update ruined the interface in my view, now forced to portrait and well oversized compared to the screen. Come on please… you’re supposed to be IMPROVING it, not making each iteration WORSE and more annoying!!

Backward update

Foxcloud updated today and it’s now messed up how it displays on my iPad. Gone is the option to automatically rotate from my normal landscape to portrait orientation. It now forces portrait for the main screen and landscape for the detailed analysis. Please put it back to how it was before the 'update'.

Pointlessly limited

Add in forced charge as a basic command - thanks.

Bad

Awful. Simply awful. Only picks up our panels 5% of the time. So an upgrade isn’t really; it’s just playing with the front end and stopping the back end working. Wouldn’t recommend buying their batteries

Charging setup

I cannot setup the night charging from grid! That was available in quick sertings before at battery menu point but I cannot see it now!

Not good - loses connection every week

Unlike every other app I use this one does not reconnect to the inverter without restarting the solar system completely - junk

Forced upgrade but doesn’t work

Title says it all. Worked for less than a day before « Offline ». Apparently this is a long running issue with this app. I waited as long as possible (months) but was forced to update. Fox still haven’t fixed this basic bug. Very annoying - especially as the fix needs me to be onsite and I’m not

Great when working

Requires regular reboot of our WiFi router to restore the app connection to our system. Extremely frustrating for an engineer who monitors it a number of times every day.

Superb

Complex transformed . Used to be glitchy but now brilliant. The mode schedule is superb. Can set my timings to charge and discharge multiple times during the day in a clear and easy to manage way . Well done developers . Took something issues but I love it now

Not happy at all.

App is showing ‘offline’ constantly between 1400-1900 each day. This means my charging/grid export is not being handled to achieve maximum benefit. Signal is good next to the inverter with 55-60mbps speed when test at the inverter. Really needs sorting out quickly!!

Doesn’t work

This worked for a week when an upgrade came it stopped showing power generated. I would not recommend

Current Data Status

Updated app, updated design. The in, outs and battery data points have all moved which is a bit annoying, but my main concern is the current status of the data. Previously you would have a time register to know if the current values where up to date or not. (1 min ago etc. ) This information is no longer available so I cannot know if the data being presented is up to date or old. Please can you bring back some form of timer so we can acknowledge whether the data is current or 1 min ago, 2 mins ago etc. Thanks

Really flaky system

My forced discharge works fine then suddenly it stops. It’s cost me a lot of money. Look for other options
