I’m new to freeze drying and being able to follow successful recipes and directions is a great way to start

Still learning

So far so good just opened it

High hopes

I had high hopes for this app since I just got a freeze dry machine and have been following Whitepepper farms. But after logging batch #2, the app freezes and I can’t navigate away from the pop up. I’ve deleted and reloaded the app and nothing is changing. I’ll keep checking back for a fix because I really wanted this to work

Response from developer

Thanks for giving Freeze Dry Buddy a shot, and congratulations on the new machine. We are genuinely sorry it locked up on you right out of the gate. After you log a batch, the app shows a short celebration popup, and on some devices that popup could fail to close and trap you, exactly as you described. We have tracked it down and a fix is on the way in the next update. We would love for you to stick with us. Please give it another try when the update arrives, and thank you for taking the time to tell us what happened.

Batch times out too fast

Trying this out for the first time on a very overfilled run of apples. I was super excited with how everything was going especially logging weights for the first run.

I knew I would be away from the freeze dryer for an extended period of time so I added an extra 24 hours dry time knowing I would have time to package it the next day. Yes, it’s a waste of time and electricity I am fully aware, but here is where my issue was found. When I went back to the app this morning before work to confirm that no additional weight had been lost over the last day planning on packaging over my lunch hour. it would not allow me to log an additional weight. It only allowed me to cancel the cycle or finish the cycle. It really needs an option to continue the cycle.

Edited to add: Once this is corrected I will absolutely be giving 5 stars.

Hello! I'm sending this off to the team right now, I agree this is something that should be included, we'll get it added! Right now the app is still really new, and we're taking feedback just like this to help us quickly update and improve. I appreciate it! -Brandon

I like what I see so far

I have literally only just scratched the surface but I like what I see so far. It gave me easy to read setting for the first thing I asked to do (bananas) I had done a few batches before but not as the settings that Brandon suggested. I am excited to dial in my FD and not waste my time.

I am so excited for this App, I can’t wait to learn more about freeze drying, etc

Response from developer

We’re excited to have you here! There’s a lot to learn with freeze drying, and we're building Freeze Dry Buddy to make that process easier step by step. -Brandon

Great addition

I’m new to freeze drying, so there’s definitely a learning curve for me, but overall the Freeze Dry Buddy app seems pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. I like being able to keep track of batches and pantry inventory in one place.

One thing I would really love to see improved is the pantry option for bag counts. Right now, it seems set up as a simple 1 tray = 1 bag situation, but that doesn’t always work in real life. For example, I had a couple trays that needed 1.5 bags each, so 2 trays ended up making 3 bags total. I couldn’t really find a good way to account for that in the app, so my pantry count is off.

Aside from that, it’s been helpful so far, especially for someone just starting out with freeze drying.
