Obviously not for banjo

Subscribed because it said it was for banjo also. Then it said it needed to set it up and that I should play “5th string/5th fret”….. on a banjo.

Consistently does not recognize notes

I'm in a quiet room, tried recalibrating several times - the app even recognized them in "audio settings", but when practicing consistently doesnt recognize G3 (and sometimes other notes), otherwise it's a great app.

Something is Working

I decided I want to learn all the notes across the guitar fretboard. I am practicing on guitar as mush as possible, but throughout the day I am also getting in mental exercises with this app (I use it without the guitar). It all seems to be working. I am really seeing the fretboard now and the patterns of notes. This app is exactly what I wanted to have. Something simple and fast to practice. And I think it’s really helping me because I definitely can find notes much better than before and am about 80% to knowing the whole fretboard without much hesitation.

Sensitivity

Just so-so, even after adjusting from normal to sensitive, especially on the thinner strings.

Best app ever

Thank you Ryan for creating this. It’s improved so much over time truly a blessing

worth the upgrade, but some bugs worth acknowledging/ ignoring

sometimes when you let a note ring out, the next interval will pick it up and flag you. mic sometimes flags correct notes. mic sometimes does not pick up notes unless you play loud or face your guitar toward your phone head-on. most of my frustrations with the app revolve around the app either not picking up enough sound, mixed frequencies messing with the detection, or being too sensitive to notes that ring out. don’t quite understand why it won’t recognize the correct note sometimes tho. overall good tool for learning it you stay on top of it and know when to move on (you will prob not master most of the notes because of mic issues).

very helpful

this app is extremely helpful for learning the fretboard! the only issue i’m running into is on the fourth string, the app consistently tells me i am missing B and C, even though i am playing the correct fret and it has no issue recognizing notes below those. there is very little noise and recalibrating did not help

I want to love this

This app is so good but I think there must be a bug because I get every note right but my progress bars go down and now I can’t progress! This literally could be the most helpful app in the world if you just fixed this

Teacher approved 👍

A friend recommended this app to me for teaching students the notes on the fretboard faster. I give it to all my students and as long as they put in a few minutes with it every day they learn so fast!! Great app !!

Bad

I’m so disappointed I really wanted to use it but it does not pick up my guitar for some reason and I’m in a quite room only sound is my guitar yet it does not pick it up

Great App may need algorithm work or improved feedback

Overall I love this app because it is exactly how I’ve been trying to practice the fretboard but it takes away two important time lags in that it tells me where new notes are and helps me randomly play one.

I am however currently stuck and I am not sure why… the app says I am playing all the notes correctly and gives no indicators that it is picking up extra noise but at the end of each practice most of my progress bars actually go down? If there is a timing element or if the app thinks I’m playing the wrong note then I feel like that should be given as feedback at the end. It tells you during the lesson if you play the wrong note though so is there a hidden aspect I don’t know about or is the algorithm struggling for some reason?

Edit: I’m reducing my rating. I love this app as a concept but it’s been a couple days and it’s just not useable. None of the progress bars go up, I can’t get past the A string despite playing the notes all correctly, extremely well, and at a quick consistent tempo. I’ve read similar reviews with the EXACT same issues that don’t haven’t seemed to be addressed so until it’s fixed I have to abandoned the app because it no longer serves as a learning tool.

Doesn’t work

Not sure if it’s user error but for some reason it’s not picking up the notes I’m playing?

New update ruined it

I used to love the simplicity of the app and how I could play past the 12th fret. Not I can’t and my mic stops working g if I adjust the settings. The bots also take longer to appear than the voice announced, things I did t worry about before

Simply incredible

This app is absolutely great . From the different amount of stringed instruments you can select, to the different tunings you can select as well (and learning notes via different tunings definitely can feel like a mountain to climb) . I’ve had no issues with it thus far, and can easily see myself incorporating this into my practice regiment . If anything, I do catch myself yearning for slightly longer rounds (you can get so into it, it can feel over so quickly), yet there are no complaints for how the app is currently . Definitely an app for our modern times to pick up to feel more comfortable on the fretboard .

Kinda bad

Barely picks up the proper notes. No matter how much I use the recalibrate feature to fix the microphone it does not help.

Liked it at first

I liked the idea of the app at first but once I did the free trial, it seemed I only had one exercise I could do which was learn all the notes on the fret board. I was hoping to be able to jump around between that and scale exercises, but it seems you can only gain access to those features later? I dunno it seemed pretty limited for 6$ CAD /month service. Not worth it IMO.

Bring back some old features

I started using this app in December and throughly enjoyed it as it was allow me to learn my bass board. Sometime between February-Now is when I’m assuming that the major update and redesign released. I’m writing this review but I see that the dev actually responds to feedback which I am extremely grateful for.
One feature that I truly miss is the ability to see your progress on notes without pressing “practice”. I used to be able to see my note progression per string, however it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Unfortunately you can only see your note progression after each round and even with that, it’s only limited to the notes practiced in a round. I hope in the next update you can bring this feature back as it was extremely useful to me.

Decent app

I am using the app, it seems good. I wish they would change from using the tiny "12+" for indicating below 12th fret. They need to change background color or automatically change fret numbers to 12-22. Im constantly wrong because im in wrong position not wrong note

great app, missing one thing

great app, does what it should do but notifications are a must. i want to practice my notes daily but often forget, being able to have the option to have prompting notifications on the days of the week you select would be a great update !

Disappointed

I really want to give this app a good review but it doesn’t seem to function properly. I will get all the notes correct on a round and yet my progress goes down. I understand that it may be partially based on timing of the note, but I have not been able to progress past the A string after 4 days. Also, the app consistently marks the 6th string F note as wrong
