Helpful and flexible

This application offers finger shapes for chords on a variety of instruments including guitar, ukulele and mandolin. Multiple options appear for forming chord shapes up and down the fretboard (for the type of instrument you select).

In addition, a particularly handy feature is the reverse look-up. On an image of your instrument's fretboard, you can indicate finger positions, and let the app identify one or more names for the chord shape you've indicated.

Powerhouse

Love it. Use it constantly. Simple, clean UI. Super configurable with multiple instruments, alternate tunings, reverse chord lookup, I love this thing. It’s not been updated in years but I still use it daily. Only wish it contained sections for each musical key that included diatonic sets, commonly used out of key chords, and scales/modes.

Fantastic App

I tried the free version, then bought the paid one less than a minute later. I wanted something for noting down chords when I was coming up with guitar parts, and the Reverse Finder feature is amazing for this even in alternate tunings.

Thank you to the developer. Great App.

Wow!

Just got this app and I love it already. All kinds of options, chords for different instruments, different positions for chords, and you can even put your own positions in manually and see what that chord is.

NOT ABLE TO VIEW IN LANDSCAPE ON IPAD

The app features are great, mind you, but oh so annoying to read in portrait when my accessories are in landscape. How difficult would that be?

Best chord app out there!

This is my go-to chord finder app! I never use my old chord books any longer. The reverse chord finder is awesome. You get multiple voicing for each chord and also you can listen to how each sounds. I highly recommend this app for any level of guitarist.

Just what I needed :)

I have been looking for an app like this and this one is perfect. I can tap the board to put in the cord I'm playing and it tells me the cord. As a bonus the look is pretty cool and I plan to copy and paste it onto my sheet music so it's easy to follow. I also like the fact that you can use different tunings and capo too!!! Pretty sweet.

So so...

Good enough chord finder - appreciate the intelligent algorithm and all - but the reverse chord finder is pretty flaky on guitar and ukulele. In standard tunings it wouldn't find single string chords like C on the uke, nor some basic chords like Am on the guitar. Not confident that it would accurately name chords correctly at all in open tunings (which I use a lot). Upgrade, please, to earn more stars.

Buy It!

Get the paid version. Reverse finder crash bug is fixed. I just did a bunch of reverse lookups tuned 1/2 step down, with drop-Db. Handled it no problem. You can even strum the chord to hear what it sounds like. Two updates since September, so they keep it fresh.

Amazing app!

Best guitar app everywhere! Helped me so much with my first year of jazz band and I had to learn all these crazy chords. Fretter had them all!! Every guitar player should own this app. Well worth the $2!

Where is the iPad version?

I like the application but I needed to buy the iPhone app to use on my iPad2. It works, but how hard can it be to adapt it for the larger screen with auto rotate? Adapt it and I'll give it five stars.

Perfect

This app has everything anyone would need and more. I do wish though that there was a way to save tunings and other settings that you use a lot. It would also be cool if there was a page with all the musical keys and the chords that belong to them and every setting you change, changes the chords relatively. That would make things way easier for me me. but this app is the best guitar chord app I've ever used. and to the guy they said it crashes, I've never had that problem, I think it's because you're using an iPhone 3G

3 stars for the good idea, but my app crashes every time I try to select anything. Please fix man

Excellent

If you want a reference guide with extensive possibilities but no nonsense, this is it.
