Update logged me out - can’t get back to account

I have been playing FriendGammon for several years. With the latest update I suddenly got logged out and I can’t get back to my old account with ongoing games and old score. Very sad.

What a fun a game

I love it, helps me relax!

So much potential!

I love the idea of the app but there’s a few things I wish would change.
1. I need to be able to see what my opponents rolled—if I can’t see what they rolled, then I can’t know their strategy. You’re only able to see their roll if they happen to be actively playing at the same time you are. If you take your turn, leave the app, then return later and your opponent has take their turn, all you can see is that it’s now your turn but no indication of what my opponents move was.
2. Please allow people to delete games with unwanted players. If I forfeit a game, then it should disappear—not restart the game.
3. The notifications have never worked for me. I have deleted and reinstalled the app and attempted to troubleshoot various times but I still have never been able to get push notifications for when it’s my turn to play or a player has made a move.

Great idea poorly implemented

App regularly hangs and freezes, loses internet connection. Bandwidth hog, fails to work.

Good times

Love this app but would love an update so that we can see our opponent’s last move. Thank you to the volunteer developers of this app! Really appreciate that there are no ads or selling my data.

Glitch and Dice flow

The game algorithm is very weak and made to keep everyone with certain score, very very glitchy and sometimes double dice just double on its own, not fair play to benefit the best player but to keep players equal. I get the idea but doest work for actual players.

Several major flaws

The app is designed for leisurely play, with large gaps between moves. That’s fine. The problem is that, unless you’re looking at the board when your opponent moves, or you memorized the positions before the move, it’s not clear what their roll was or where they moved. This makes for a strange game in which you have little knowledge of your opponent’s moves or style of play. Second, the graphics, white checkers on white points and black checkers on a black bar, make it easy to miss checkers. Third, the doubling cube stays in the middle, so it’s hard to see who owns it after a double. Lastly, the app burns through battery for no obvious reason. The phone gets hot while using it.

Dobles

When you double someone then either party will starts to get doubles non stop and it’s a usual pattern that repeats over and over. The machine has learn’t or was trained that way so not so random.

Fun app

My only complaint is the founder beat me like a red headed step child ;-)

Not easy to use

This app is not easy to use.

Rigged

Opponent gets exactly what he needs 90% of the time over 10 games? If you’re lucky enough to put them on the rail they ALWAYS get out on the first roll no matter how many columns you have locked up. Along the same note if you leave one unprotected it WILL get railed. Happens too often to be luck or coincidence. My guess is the people who pay the $4.99 a month always win and the free folks lose.

Hello, and thank you for your review! We use an open source RNG (random number generator) to generate truly random rolls. It's available for review here: https://www.erlang.org/docs/18/man/random. Additionally, we've made all features free for all users. We hope you'll try the app again!

Best backgammon to play with friends but

Best backgammon to play with friends but since the last update neither i nor my friend can log in to play.

Good size board - easy connection - good layout - but please fix the app!

Fatal crash

Was playing happily along with a friend and there were a few freezes that required us to force close and reopen, then it glitched fatally and not even deleting and reinstalling is helping. Also, costs to use the chat feature or to get a different color board are astronomically high.

New update not good

While the update is shaper and a bit less glitchy the feature that shows you where a selected piece can move, after the roll, to is no longer. It made the digital version of the game much more pleasurable. If any developer reads this, please bring this back! (Or allow for players to toggle it on and off)

We're sorry to hear you're not enjoying the update! We removed the "helper" feature but did a feature that shows you which pieces are available to move. Please shoot us an email and we'll be happy to help: hello@friendgammon.com

Update killed it

So you’ve taken away the only board you could see properly that didn’t look like neon hell and made useful boards available behind a pay wall?!?!

You’ve made chat available only through a paywall (not that I needed it but still).

It was a bit shimmy anyway but I’m out. There are plenty of free, full access backgammon games on the market. Stupidity and greed wins the day again. Sigh.

Can finally play online with friends!

This is a great way to keep your backgammon skills sharp and is much more fun than playing against a computer.
