Paid app - Broken reporting - False advertising

App looks great, inputs work pretty well. However over half the home page is taken by “upgrade to pro”. Ignoring those, I added 3 records. Worked pretty great for happy path, though not being able to select the same gas station as last fillup, or search the actual store name was a bit of an irk. But that is where things started to fall apart.

Looking at home screen my All Time stats said I’d gone -551 miles while Vehicle Details said I’d gone 1086 miles.

Looking at the Fuel Consumption mpg I see rows saying I only got 6.89 and 6.96 mpg, well below what it actually was and whatever it was calculating attributed to the wrong fill up records. Looking back to vehicle details those two numbers apparently average out to 4.57.

None of the graphs shown in the promotional screenshots are available in the app. In fact there are zero graphs in this app.

You cannot backdate records if you find old receipts, the save button is greyed out.

You cannot attribute multiple receipts to the same fill up which is problematic because filling up my tank costs more than most stations allow in a single purchase.

Odometer granularity locks to a full mile, you cannot add decimal.

All of this is under a banner claiming increased accuracy and new graphs.

This app had potential, might have even paid eventually because the graphs shown were what I wanted. But the lack of attention to detail and the “free” version being so locked down it doesn’t actually do anything correctly makes paying too poor a gamble. To see if maybe they aren’t lying about what they’re offering.

Response from developer

Thank you for this detailed breakdown. I’m an independent developer and honestly hadn't encountered these specific bugs during testing, so your feedback gives me a perfect roadmap to fix them. I am diving into the code right now to correct the broken math logic (those negative miles and weird MPG averages) and to make sure the odometer accepts decimals. I’m also fixing the date picker so you can backdate old receipts, updating the App Store screenshots to accurately show what's currently live, and working on a way to handle multiple receipts for large tanks. I really want to make this right. Please feel free to reach out directly through the "App Suggestion" button inside the app settings. I’d love to update you personally the second these fixes are live so you can see the actual, accurate performance. Thanks again for catching these blind spots!

Wunsch-Verbesserung
