About

Fundology shows you what a fund actually did, in figures you can check. Headline returns are the easy part. What is harder to see is the return left after inflation has eaten into it, and after the charges have been taken out. Fundology puts those figures next to each other so you can read them at a glance. REAL RETURNS, NOT JUST HEADLINE ONES Every performance figure is shown twice: the nominal return, and the return after CPIH inflation using the Office for National Statistics series. A fund up 40 per cent over five years while prices rose 20 per cent did not leave you 40 per cent better off, and the app says so plainly. WHAT THE CHARGES COST The ongoing charges figure is shown as a percentage and, more usefully, as a cash figure: what the charge would have taken from a 10,000 pound holding over five years, compounded. Small percentages are easy to wave away. Pounds are not. HOLDINGS OVERLAP, IN PLAIN SIGHT Hold three global funds and you may be holding the same twenty companies three times over. Fundology reads the holdings each issuer publishes and works out how much of two funds is genuinely the same portfolio, position by position. Where a fund only discloses its largest holdings, the app tells you that rather than quietly guessing. THE COMPANIES UNDERNEATH Tap any holding to see the company behind it: sector, market capitalisation, price to earnings, dividend yield, 52-week range, and which other funds you are looking at also hold it. Market prices are delayed by at least fifteen minutes and are labelled as such wherever they appear. A WATCHLIST THAT STAYS QUIET Keep the funds you are reading about in one place, with a private note against each. No push notifications urging you to act, no daily nudges, no leaderboards. WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM Every figure carries its source and the date it was gathered. A data and sources screen lists each feed, its licence, and how fresh it is, including when something has gone stale. If we do not have a figure, the app leaves it blank rather than filling the gap. PLAIN ENGLISH A built-in glossary explains OCF, NAV, CPIH, Sharpe ratio, maximum drawdown, accumulation versus income units and the rest, with the method used to calculate each one. WHAT FUNDOLOGY DOES NOT DO It does not recommend funds. It does not rank them as good or bad. It does not sell your data, carry advertising, or accept payment for placement. There is no trading, no brokerage and no way to buy anything through the app. Fundology is an information tool. It is not financial advice and we are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. You can browse without an account; an account is only needed to save a watchlist or notes, and you can delete it in the app at any time. Capital at risk. Past performance is not a guide to future returns. The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you put in.
