Hunting? Use OnX.

For hunting reasons….just use OnX. Gaias satalite imagery is terrible, no 3D mode, and just a clunky user interface. For certain layers such as FS roads, Gaia wins!

Meu Gaia

Perfeito

Going downhill

This used to be a great app, but little by little features have been changing for the worse.
I have been using the Pro version for years, the main reason was access to Nat Geo maps, but now several map layers have been replaced with in-house made maps that lack the level of detail the Nat Geo maps had.
Simple features that are common on other mapping apps are lacking (example: directional arrows on planned routes).
I haven’t found a good replacement yet, but I will not hesitate to switch once I find it.

Trash

This app is borderline unuseable (16 pro max). Constant multi second lag for any action. Freeze/crash etc. No 3d maps. What a joke. I had Gaia on Android devices years ago and it worked perfectly. Will be spending the year I’ve paid for looking for a better option until I cancel my subscription.

Amazing

Literally downloaded it before a trek and it saved us while we were hiking at night. The trail was terribly marked but this app was extremely accurate

The elevation algorithm is inaccurate

Planning a route in the alps gives 1500m ascent, doing that exact route gives 1000m ascent. The elevation algorithm is incredibly buggy and quite frankly a safety hazard. Stay away!!!

Confusing

Downloaded the app after copilot recommended it. Had no clue how to use it or even search for trails. Was so confusing it was useless. Deleted app 5 minutes after downloading

Have been using Gaia; but broken CarPlay is killing it

Have been using Gaia for years and have been very happy with it and the CarPlay use. Recent updates have broken CarPlay where it will not show any map (downloaded or not). This is a huge disappointment and contemplating dropping Gaia in favor of other solutions which would be a pain since I love the features and use of gaia

So impressed

Literally one of the best apps on my phone. Has been invaluable on trips when I have no SIM card. Amazingly accurate and well designed. Thank you.

Hot mess

The site works perfectly but the app sometimes decides it doesn’t want to or the account isn’t valid and don’t even think about downloading a map or syncing data

Confusing and glitchy

I had a lot of hope for Gaia. I’ve used it for many years and expected product improvements over time would lead to a more reliable, intuitive, easier to navigate, more performant app. Unfortunately, Outside has not invested in this product and it has frequent glitches and a horribly complex user interface.

Is the base map downloaded?

Steep learning curve and the Gaia websites aren’t helpful. It’s very difficult to confirm if the maps have downloaded for off grid reference. I regret this purchase and getting my $60 back seems unlikely.

Please please please fix CarPlay

I love Gaia over the competition, have used it for years… and I’d love to get back “off” X… buuuuut Gaia CarPlay is garbage. Fails to load layers without kicking it, stops updating location if the phone screen goes to sleep, and other quirks that make relying on it impossible. Sad. Please spend some dev sprints on fixing all these problems. Read these reviews, read the support tickets many have submitted for years, read Reddit…

Lost my data

Some changes a while back locked me out of my data (recorded tracks, etc.). Numerous support requests went unanswered. Awful app.

Still, no 3-D maps

3D Maps is on Web and for android for years, I have been waiting on iOS since last 2 1/2 years still no update . This is the first developer who makes this kind of premium feature available on android and leaves out iOS.

No customer support

I absolutely LOVE this app. I can’t imagine life without it. I recommend it ALL THE TIME to strangers on the trail. BUT the only customer support available now is a stupid AI chat bot that is not at all helpful. It offers to open a support ticket, and says someone will email me shortly, but I’ve been lost to a black hole. I have a problem that needs to be solved, and AI isn’t helping. REAL HUMAN PLEASE

So much potential ruined by a few things

2 things that really bothers me:
Can't snap a route to a trail when offline (why???)
No free roaming navigation map with the apple watch (just copy footpath app)

Great app, please fix CarPlay

I use this for hiking, hitting fire and logging roads on my motorcycle and getting around those same places with my truck. Great app, best I’ve seen so far. Only gripe I have is that you have to have the map layers opened on displayed on your phone/tablet before CarPlay starts up or the map doesn’t display right. A fix for CarPlay stability would be great!

GAIA is #1

GAIA is the best hiking and mapping app out there, and I’ve used many.
