What's New in Gap Click by Benny Greb

1.4.3

October 23, 2023

This release marks an exceptional round #2 of "low-tone bug" resolutions. I fixed the following two additional cases of the "low-tone" bug making an unwelcome appearance: #1. Travis informed me of the case on iPads where the low tone appeared in "Slide Over" mode when using Gap Click together with another app that produces audio. #2. The low-tone bug also appeared on iPhones when switching from an app that produces audio back to Gap Click. In both cases, the click now starts as expected with your anticipated selected click sound. It turns out the "low-tone bug" is not just a single bug but a symptom of an underlying issue when audio is unexpectedly interrupted by something else. If you encounter any other instances of this bug, please let me know so I can address them. Together, we'll squash them all! It's like a bad Halloween nightmare for me, lol. A big thanks again to our considerate users who helped us improve the app, this time Travis, who sent a video demonstrating how to reproduce the issue! We're always eager to hear your thoughts on this release. Please continue sending your feedback to us from within the app under Settings > Contact Support. I respond to every message personally and promptly to provide you with the best customer service possible. Thank you for your continued support!

Enough for gap practice

Doesnt need to be too many functions in there. It is only for gap click and as it be well working enough for own purpose and price. Im good with this

Tolle App.

No 9/8

Great metronome, but how come there’s no 9/8 option?

Amazing metronome

Hello! Amazing metronome. But there is a huge request. Please add a 1/4 size.

Such a great app!

I heard about this app from Reddit after I searched for "best metronome for guitar". The gap is so good for training myself to maintain a tempo! The interface is very intuitive except for the tap circle, but I just learned what that does from reading a review on my way to write this one. I went and tried it really quick, and it's perfect! So useful! I've only used the default sound because I find it pleasant, so no need to mess with it. By contrast, I checked out some youtube BPM videos yesterday, and the sound effect was so awful, I just couldn't. I love that it keeps playing even if the app is put in the background, and it even plays while the Voice Memo app is recording! (The metronome will be on the recording though.) The only thing I don't see that I would like to have is the ability to store tempos (so I can quickly grab the tempo I was last using for each of the different songs I’m practicing).

Update: after using the app for a bit, there are two things I want to note.

Firstly, the app volume adjustment doesn't seem to work. The volume seems the same loudness when I’m using other apps as it always has—even when I have it set to 10%. At 10%, I would think there should be a discernible difference.

The second issue is when the app first loads or when the output audio changes devices, it pops up on the screen which device, and while it displays, the app is unresponsive. I personally don't care to see the device displayed like this, but what I really want is to be able to hit play right when I open the app and not have to wait for the "Speaker" overlay to disappear.

Thanks!

FAQ

What does the Gap Click app do?

The Gap Click app is a metronome designed to improve your sense of time and groove. Unlike standard metronomes, it allows you to set periods where the click drops out, challenging you to maintain tempo and accuracy with off-beat rhythms.

How does the 'gap' feature work?

The 'gap' feature lets you configure a specific number of bars or patterns where the metronome will not produce a sound. This tests your ability to keep time internally and accurately when the click eventually returns.

What are the pricing details for Gap Click?

Gap Click is a one-time purchase application. This single purchase includes all current and future features, meaning there are no additional in-app purchases or subscription fees.

What kind of rhythms and time signatures does it support?

The app supports various syncopated patterns for both the click and the gap, allowing practice in binary or ternary rhythms. It also includes standard quarter-note time signatures such as 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, and 7/4.

Is this app suitable for beginners?

While designed to challenge even experienced musicians, the app's intuitive design and clear features make it accessible. Users have noted that it makes simple sense without a tutorial, though its effectiveness in improving timing can be quite profound.
