Practical app. Dependable, simple and intuitive. My only constructive feedback is that the photos often don’t match the articles.

Possibly the worst app ever.
You can’t even read an article without a video ad popping up and no matter how many times you close the video it just keeps coming back up. The app was buggy when it first launched a few years ago and now it is unusable.

G-T app is a travesty. Everything is subject to a paywall & excessive advertising. That’s what happens when local news is captured by conservative private equity.

We will continue to offer the lowest rate possible to all of our subscribers, but with our digital content you can stay informed from any web-enabled device, and can go anywhere without having to take a physical copy along.
Mediocre
Online news utility is almost useless, having to wade through advertising bombardment, and then can access a few local news stories. E- Edition is fairly functional, although some days it is mid day before the current issue displays. I don’t understand why the Albany Democrat Herald (same paper as GT with different front page banner) updates promptly but not the Corvallis edition.

Worst newspaper app
You almost couldn’t make a worse app for this most simple of goals: an E-edition of the local paper. I’m a long time subscriber, formerly of the print version and really had hoped this edition would be moderately effective nut its total crap. After more than a year of suffering through the extremely buggy daily experience with my morning coffee the latest glitch is it won’t open at all for over a week. I deleted it and still it won’t even open. If you want to keep up with the times and changing media landscape and stop the hemorrhaging of subscribers please find a new app developer and build a new app from the ground up. I’d be willing to pay a lot more than $1 for a 6mths subscription if it actually worked. It really doesn’t get worse than this.

Zero stars is appropriate
There are so many things wrong with this app. Many have been pointed out but no improvements are made. The biggest single frustration for me is the giant black box that obscures fully 25% of the already limited iPod reading surface. Sometimes a tiny, less offensive square within is used as commercial space. I am paying a high subscription rate and view the ads in the e-edition as I would those in the print edition. Why do you make me suffer for naught? I subscribe because I believe in local news. The Gazette Times tells me in so many ways that it does not.

Needs a filtering function for Notifications
The app desperately needs functionality to filter app notifications. For the past 6 months or so, the app sends notifications for virtually every new article posted to their website, turning notifications in to unhelpful background noise
Poor sports
We Are subscribers and internet- poor sports section - I constantly go to other sources to find game schedules. Why not have a daily schedule with all local sports?

Keeps force closing
I would rate this app higher because it's a good app, but it keeps force closing on me and will not even load.
App has malware?
The app keeps popping into the Apple Store randomly recently. No need to click on anything, it just goes to some game and wants you to download it. Nice newspaper, but the app has been hijacked by advertisers and is unusable.
Poor design and intrusive advertising
I’m glad my local newspaper has provided an app for their top stories, but in its current state, using it is too much of a hassle for me. The main problems are:
1) The news stories don’t refresh automatically. You need to tap a *tiny* button to load the most recent news stories, and this tiny button is right next to a banner ad. Most of the time my phone thinks I was trying to tap the ad and opens that instead of refreshing the news. This button needs to be bigger, and spaced further apart from other content.
2) Sometimes ads just open up of their own accord. I still don’t know what triggers it, but once it begins happening, every time I open this app, it automatically opens a Safari window with an ad and closes the GT app. I can only fix it by force-closing the GT app or rebooting my phone.
3) The app was clearly designed for older iPhones and has never been updated to support the newer models. It doesn’t use the full size available to iPhone 5 and later, and it also uses low-resolution images which look awful on iPhone 4 and later.
