New update makes you watch ads
App now requires you to watch ads before you can access your smart devices. Just had to watch an ad to turn my office light on. Terrible experience
Absolutely zero customer service, help ticket open for 7 years and counting because they do not care
Every time you update something looses function, now I can’t turn the plugs off and if you press the button it now disconnects and the device has to be reconnected and to do so it has to be deleted as well as all the schedules, this is the fifth time this has happened today and I’m livid!!! Don’t you test stuff before you put it out? Cause you don’t update very often so I figure you have plenty of time to double check your catastrophes before releasing them on the public.
9/7/26 Devices not showing up and then disconnecting after having to reestablish connection after your “update” that disconnected all twelve of my devices at two different locations, to which I really appreciated the 1.5hr drive just to go reconnect the cameras and low and behold they have dropped two times since your “update”.
Also 2 other cameras will not reconnect and after 9 times going through the reconnection process they fail to connect no matter what method of connection is used. Another issue none of the devices reconnect on the rediscovery of network after they disconnect themselves so that function no longer works. The default image size is 1/3 smaller than before making details of the image harder to view. Since the “update” I now have a poor network connection notice that has not been there ever before and the live feed is now 2 seconds of footage and 15-19 seconds of a still image and it comes back for a couple seconds and freezes again.
Some features I relied on have completely been removed for a couple devices. So big deal if the cameras load faster, when you get a still image and have to wait 20 seconds to see what the alert was, cause it’s gone by the time the live stream unfreezes.
One device is only alerting to sounds and no motion detection. You didn’t fix anything you just moved problems around and created more issues resulting in almost half my devices to become unconnectable. 4 of 12 are useless and for 50-75 dollars each and less than 2 years of service life you can be assured I will not be replacing them with anything with the geeni name on it.
BTW the cameras that you’ve bricked are my nanny cams and that’s a whole other issue on its own and feels intentional.
You know this app was awesome 5 years ago, for about 9 months and it’s been slowly spiraling into a dumpster fire and the flames are now cresting the lid.
It’s honestly sad to witness the decline in the usability of the app and the untimely failure of devices that bare the geeni name.

No Roomate Needed
This little camera is the roommate I didn’t know I needed. It watches the door, texts me when something moves, and doesn’t eat my leftovers. Night vision is decent, setup was easy, and it hasn’t given me a heart attack with fake alerts… much. 10/10 would let it spy on my porch again.
Worst product ever
I shouldn’t have to rely on bloody Wi-Fi 2.4 to be exact in order to turn my lights on and off. It’s crazy that technology has made us so diluted thinking that the fancier the product the better when in reality you need to be basically a rocket scientist in order to just hook up the app and turn on your lights I tried to get help but your customer support or help page is also terrible. Terrible all around. Do not get this.
