New update makes you watch ads

App now requires you to watch ads before you can access your smart devices. Just had to watch an ad to turn my office light on. Terrible experience

Absolutely zero customer service, help ticket open for 7 years and counting because they do not care

Every time you update something looses function, now I can’t turn the plugs off and if you press the button it now disconnects and the device has to be reconnected and to do so it has to be deleted as well as all the schedules, this is the fifth time this has happened today and I’m livid!!! Don’t you test stuff before you put it out? Cause you don’t update very often so I figure you have plenty of time to double check your catastrophes before releasing them on the public.

9/7/26 Devices not showing up and then disconnecting after having to reestablish connection after your “update” that disconnected all twelve of my devices at two different locations, to which I really appreciated the 1.5hr drive just to go reconnect the cameras and low and behold they have dropped two times since your “update”.

Also 2 other cameras will not reconnect and after 9 times going through the reconnection process they fail to connect no matter what method of connection is used. Another issue none of the devices reconnect on the rediscovery of network after they disconnect themselves so that function no longer works. The default image size is 1/3 smaller than before making details of the image harder to view. Since the “update” I now have a poor network connection notice that has not been there ever before and the live feed is now 2 seconds of footage and 15-19 seconds of a still image and it comes back for a couple seconds and freezes again.

Some features I relied on have completely been removed for a couple devices. So big deal if the cameras load faster, when you get a still image and have to wait 20 seconds to see what the alert was, cause it’s gone by the time the live stream unfreezes.

One device is only alerting to sounds and no motion detection. You didn’t fix anything you just moved problems around and created more issues resulting in almost half my devices to become unconnectable. 4 of 12 are useless and for 50-75 dollars each and less than 2 years of service life you can be assured I will not be replacing them with anything with the geeni name on it.

BTW the cameras that you’ve bricked are my nanny cams and that’s a whole other issue on its own and feels intentional.

You know this app was awesome 5 years ago, for about 9 months and it’s been slowly spiraling into a dumpster fire and the flames are now cresting the lid.

It’s honestly sad to witness the decline in the usability of the app and the untimely failure of devices that bare the geeni name.

No Roomate Needed

This little camera is the roommate I didn’t know I needed. It watches the door, texts me when something moves, and doesn’t eat my leftovers. Night vision is decent, setup was easy, and it hasn’t given me a heart attack with fake alerts… much. 10/10 would let it spy on my porch again.

Worst product ever

I shouldn’t have to rely on bloody Wi-Fi 2.4 to be exact in order to turn my lights on and off. It’s crazy that technology has made us so diluted thinking that the fancier the product the better when in reality you need to be basically a rocket scientist in order to just hook up the app and turn on your lights I tried to get help but your customer support or help page is also terrible. Terrible all around. Do not get this.

Ads

Have spent hundreds of dollars on their cameras, smart bulbs, and smart plugs only for them to incessantly start advertising with pop up’s and notifications on my phone. Garbage greedy business practice.

Absolutely Terrible design

Disconnects once a week, fast flashing lights in my eyes every single time it cuts out and it hurts my eyes so much . Absolutely god awful. Only reason I bought them was cause I didn’t expect him to be so goddamn terrible I have three LED lights from other companies and this one is by far the worst

Doesn’t work

My app won’t load anymore.

New App Update Is Awful

This new update is terrible!!

The app has a horrible layout with these silly tiles now. Things worked just fine before. Also now the connectivity is messed up. My lights keep coming unsynced. And then when I try to sync them the app fights me. I can’t even open the app on one of my phones anymore. Anytime I try to open the app it just crashes.

Who made the choice to do a half-assed update? I’ve got Govee products as well and they, along with their app, work great. What’s your excuse, Geeni?

Went downhill after upgrade

Fairly easy to set up and was pretty user-friendly app until recent update (2026) to the app which puts ads up and moved access to your camera views. I was going to buy more cameras, but I think I will try another brand.

You pay for the equipment

I think it’s a little ridiculous that you can spend hundreds of dollars on the camera equipment to setup but in order to use the app you have to tolerate ads! This should be an ad free app considering the costs you already pay for the equipment. I will not be adding additional equipment, I would rather upgrade to Apple HomeKit supported cameras and use the home app for control rather than a 3rd party app that’s just going to make you pay for equipment but show you annoying ads in their app!

What happened

My geeni won’t work anymore just keeps shutting down every time I try to open it .

New Update Broke Phone Compatibility

Despite running an OS that should work with this update, app will not function at all. Been going back and forth with “Support” for over a week with zero resolution. Cameras are effectively useless to me right now.

Good products, horrible customer service

I’ve been having issues to pair my doorbell camera to the app and every time they want me to look at something and I don’t instantaneously message them back the chat they just end it. Happened three times in one day. Last one wanted me to record a 20 second video of what was going on. While recording because I have to record with my phone and I’m doing all the chat on my PC. I guess three minutes was just too long for them. So they dropped it. Just buy a new product don’t deal with the hassle of their customer support.

No longer works with iOS 15.8.8

Stopped working on older Apple IPhone with iOS 15.8.8 although app says iOS 14 or above.

Click to run shortcut/scene take 3 clicks???

Geez I thought it was pretty dumb before when I clicked the shortcut and it ran the automation but still had to click Ok (in a pop up) to return to the app. But with latest update I have to click the shortcut, click confirm (which makes it run), and then still click the Ok pop up to return to the app.

I might as well not create a shortcut if I have to click three things now. Do developers not know why their customers want to make shortcuts? It’s literally so we can do things with fewer clicks. But other than that the app runs fine and is mostly intuitive.

Update Woes

The most recent update V5.0.0 has made it to where many users myself included are incapable of using the Geeni app at all on our older devices, in my case an iPad Air 2. I get making changes to make improvements but when those “improvements” outright restrict your customers ability to use your product that’s a serious problem. Please rectify this issue quickly.

New update is terrible

What a mistake to remove the straightforward timeline viewer for recorded SD card content! It’s now replaced with a wonky individual notification system that makes you open every message to see bird recordings. Who thought this was a good idea? You obviously didn’t ask your customers before doing this. Bring back the old viewer!

Not working

Not working after last automatic update on iPad 15 8 8. Did resets, restarts, reloaded app. Nothing working. Try to use the report a problem site on here and after entering my password keeps saying my time is out and I must renter my password. Wow scary stuff.
