What does this have to do with photos?

Either the app has nothing to do with photos or the instructions are incredibly poor. Either way, 1 star.

Exceptional.

Just came back here to update my review after a few months of use. This app is truly the best in class; it is rock solid and, unlike so many other app, does not tombstone in the background: your GPS log is perfectly continuous. I have just come back from an African safari that extended over 3 weeks: I started logging when I arrived and ended it on the way to the airport on the way home - the app didn’t miss a beat. No restarts, no missed days, no inaccurate logs, just a perfect log that I could use the companion desktop app to tag my photos with. Absolutely money well spent!

Only recorded 1 point

Did not work. Maybe I’m not setting it correctly.

It simply works

I’ve been using it flawlessly, for almost two years.

I needed a solution to geotag my photos, after being frustrated with the pairing drops with my camera’s app.

Geotag Photos app uploads the tracks automatically to my defined iCloud and Dropbox. I then copy the .gpx file to my Mac and use Adobe Lightroom to geotag my photos in the Maps module.

Response from developer

Hello! We sincerely appreciate your positive feedback on our application. It's wonderful to hear that Geotag Photos Pro 2 has been seamlessly helping you geotag your photos for almost two years. Thank you for choosing us! 😊

Great app but wish for in-phone batch tagging

Have used this for a few years now and really can’t fault it. Normally I use the iPad to tag the locations but have recently found myself loading images direct from my SLR into my phone. To be able to geotag those images in the phone would be a killer feature. Can’t always have laptop or iPad with me. Great work though - a rare decent app!

FAQ

What does Geotag Photos Pro 2 do?

How does the app geotag my photos?

The mobile app logs your GPS position as you shoot. You then use the free desktop application, available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, to import your photos and the logged GPS data. The desktop app automatically adds the location information to your image files.

Is Geotag Photos Pro 2 free to use?

The app offers a free trial period with three trips. After the trial, you can unlock the full functionality of the app with a one-time purchase. The desktop geotagging application is provided for free.

What photo formats does the app support?

The app supports a wide range of popular image formats, including JPG and RAW files from various camera manufacturers. Supported RAW formats include nef, cr2, crw, dcr, ciff, erf, orf, k25, kdc, mef, mrw, nrw, pef, raf, tif, tiff, raw, arw, rw2, srf, sr2, srw, x3f, and dng.

How does this app work with photo editing software?

The geotagged photos are compatible with popular photo editing applications like Adobe Lightroom, Aperture, and Picasa. The GPX files generated by the app work seamlessly within Lightroom's Map module, allowing for easy organization and searching of your photos by location.
