What's New in GeoTagr

5.2.10

July 23, 2026

Fix for saving a track as an image.

User reviews

Very basic

The app is extremely basic. If you need to import a GPX file, it can only do it from Dropbox. Will not allow access to Files folder on your iPhone. Very basic feature of “time shifting” is missing. There is no way to shift the time synchronize the time on your camera photos with your GPX file, if they weren’t perfectly synchronized before you started.

Love this app

I have been using this app for years. I don’t geotag photos with it, but rather use it to create a GPX file of where I’ve been when I travel. I then import the GPX file into Google Maps and I then have a nice map that shows me the route I’ve traveled.

Response from developer

You can ask questions or send feedback from within the app: Help > Ask for support. We'll investigate what's going on when you send us more details via the app.

Useful tool

My main use is geo-tagging processed RAW photos in a folder on my iPad. I import track from GPX file and run that against the folder of JPGs. Works a treat! Any possibility of being able to do the same with other formats, especially HEIF files?

Outputs invalid GPX files

The time stamps have multiple and random issues. So far I’ve found: timestamps with a space between the time and the time zone indicator; missing leading zero on time, and missing separator between the hours and minutes.

Response from developer

Please contact us via email about this. I haven't received any other reports about the GPX issue you're describing. I'm sure we can work this out.

FAQ

What does GeoTagr do?

GeoTagr helps you add location data (geotags) to your digital photos. This allows you to remember and organize your pictures based on where they were taken, especially useful since many cameras don't automatically embed this information.

How does GeoTagr geotag photos?

You can record your location using your iPhone or iPad while taking photos with a digital camera. The app then uses this recorded location data to tag your photos, supporting various management platforms like iPhone, iPad, Mac, Dropbox, and Flickr.

What file formats and cameras are supported?

The app supports both JPEG and RAW photo formats. It also boasts compatibility with over 6000 types of digital cameras, ensuring broad usability for a wide range of photography equipment.

Can I use GeoTagr with my Mac?

Yes, GeoTagr offers a companion menubar app for Mac, available for free on the Mac App Store. This allows you to geotag photos on your Mac using locations recorded on your iPhone or iPad.

What are the different location recording modes?

On iPhone, there are three recording modes designed to balance accuracy with battery life. You can also pause and resume location recording, and the app provides an estimate of remaining battery time while recording.
