Camera Focus Broken
App used to work. After an update, for several months now, the app lost its ability to ‘tap on the screen to focus’ while attempting to scan a barcode. It used to work just like taking a picture, where you could tap and it would bring the barcode into focus. now the app has 0 ability to refocus. so if you aren’t holding the item barcode at some unknown perfect distance when first clicking to scan, it will never scan. you have to back out of the attempt and try again - often taking several attempts to scan the item.
It used to be possible to tap to focus - and other working scan pay go apps (like sam’s club) handle this fine. Not sure where giant eagle is putting their giant profits - but it’s certainly not in improving the shopping experience. this app is completely overlooked - no wonder most people use the scan guns.

Doesn’t work
This hasn’t worked in the store while connected to WiFi for months

Update: 4 months later and the app still does not work. Unacceptable. If it’s not supported take it down from the App Store.

Used to be great
I used to use this app all the time it was great but over the last few months it hasn’t been. It takes forever to load and the scanning of the barcode is blurry and 9 out of 10 times doesn’t scan. It’s frustrating. I just started shopping at Meiers since their app works and is so much more advanced.

Wish better
You have to go back and after each scan to " catch" the barcode. Annoying!
Terrible Camera
In 2025 the camera focus was difficult some times but manageable. After an iOS update the focus is a mess, impossible to use.
Scanner sucks
The scanner was never great but now it is practically useless. Update your damn app.
Update Please!
This app used to be great, but if you look at the version history, Giant Eagle has not updated it in years, not keeping up with the iOS versioning, impacting the camera’s ability to effectively scan. Please invest in your customers and update the software so the camera will continue to work.
Stop working after IOS 26
Loved this app for quickly avoiding long lines and being able to pack my own groceries as I go. Unfortunately, since my phone updated to IOS 26 it will no longer scan consistently so it’s basically worthless at this point

Having issues. You can scan one item and the the following will not focus. Is was great in the past but not anymore
Incorrect focal length
The app fails to use the camera correctly leading to great difficulty in scanning bar codes. I would really love for this to work, but it seems unlikely since the app hasn’t been updated in 3 years.
No longer working
I have been using the app for years but it has stopped working about a month ago.
Unusable
Handheld scanners not working so I downloaded this as an alternate. The camera wouldn’t focus on my advantage card or item bar codes. The option of entering each item’s PLU is a useless option and it would take more time than just waiting in line at a register. Please fix the focus on the camera and this would be an excellent app.

Sorely Needs an Update.
3+ years since last update? Giant Eagle can afford to update it. And, seriously, the bar scan focus *is an issue.*
Broken App
This app no longer focuses cameras as of iOS 26. So it no longer can see barcodes unless held very far from the camera. The handheld scanners are your best bet if you want to scan and pay.

Work In Progress?
In theory, this app would be amazing. I started using it to avoid an agonizingly long line during some holiday shopping a few months ago, and it was great to start. It needs work on accessing the camera on phones, as it often doesn’t connect properly and you can’t change the focus of the camera once it’s been opened - thus not allowing your phone to focus on the barcode of a product. Check out the Sam’s Club app to find a near-flawless mobile shopping experience, and figure out how they make it so great!

No longer works.
After several years of using the app, it no longer works. Customer service says that it is common for it to not work. Must’ve bad if they just blow it off.
Won't focus on what I'm trying to scan
As the title suggests, the app won't let my camera focus on any barcodes. And the PLU input option doesn't work either
