Not User Friendly

This platform doesn’t let you browse available talent in your area. Instead, you have to fill out very specific details about your event—what type it is, all the associated info, and the exact kind of entertainer you’re looking for. From there, it seems like the platform pushes your request out to performers for quotes.

That setup feels limiting. I’m not even sure if you can request multiple types of performers at once (for example, a clown and a face painter, or an aerialist and an illusionist). Event hosts often need multiple acts, and it would make much more sense to see who’s available before committing to such detailed forms. Right now, it feels a bit like sending your request into the void without really knowing who might respond.

A more useful model would be something like Thumbtack or Fiverr, where you can browse, explore, and get inspired—even spontaneously book someone you didn’t realize you needed until you saw them. That would benefit both event hosts and entertainers.

I also wonder how it looks from the entertainers’ side—can they list multiple skills and be considered for more than one type of event, or is it just as rigid for them too? Either way, the current system feels unnecessarily restrictive.

Remember that people shop with their eyes.

Try Bash instead

This is an awful platform for performers. After paying the fee of ~$150/3 months to be listed as a mid-tier “pro member,” I have received about a dozen quote requests, and apparently none of them have been serious inquiries—even the direct leads—because none of them have ever responded to my messages (except one, who promptly ghosted). My profile is professional and my quotes are average market value, so I do not believe I am the problem.

If the fee weren’t so exorbitant, I could excuse this. As it is, this platform takes advantage of artists who just want to make a living, and it’s really sad and gross. Artists are naturally in competition with each other for gigs—that’s the way of the world—but GigSalad also pits them against each other in a useless arms race to see who is willing to pay more for leads.

Try Bash instead. The fees are a fraction of what GigSalad charges, and most Google searches bring it up before GigSalad anyway.

What about the professionals?

As long as this site has been around, I’m surprised there is no app for performers. It’s just as important to have an app for the professional entertainers to have access as much as potential clients. Highly disappointed that this has not been set up yet as I’m an entertainer utilizing this site.
