What's New in Gnome Solitaire

2.2

August 21, 2026

Faster, and smoother to deal. Cards are now drawn once and kept, rather than redrawn on every frame. Dealing a hand no longer stutters, and the board responds immediately — most noticeable on older iPads. Dealing a new game no longer gives it away. The cards used to fly from where they lay in the finished hand straight to their new places, so a card you had been looking at all game could be followed to the face-down slot it landed in. The deck is now gathered up first and the new hand dealt out of it. Long columns fit the table. The bottom card of a long column could be cut off by the edge of the board — the one card nothing overlaps, and the one you most need to read. Columns now always fit, and the topmost face-up card keeps enough room to show its value however tight the column gets. Moving a run looks right. A run dropped on a new column used to jump back to where it came from before setting off — most obvious with a King crossing to an empty space. It now travels once, from where you let go to where it lands. New is now held rather than tapped. The button sits close to the cards, and a stray tap dealt a fresh hand with no way back.
