GoAstern is a sailing logbook and crewing app for skippers who want a single place to plan, run, and review every passage. **Plan a passage** - Drop waypoints by tapping the map or searching the catalogue of UK + NW European harbours and racing marks - Drag waypoints to fine-tune the route; tag each as start / via / destination / hazard / escape - Per-mark passing-side notes (port / starboard) and free-text approach notes - Built-in tide forecasts (UKHO Admiralty for UK waters, WorldTides elsewhere) at every harbour, including secondary-port working - Crew roster with optional Apple ID linking — claim crew members so each device sees the same vessel history **Run a passage** - Live GPS track recording, optimised for offshore use (background-friendly, force-quit-tolerant) - Map shows planned route + actual track side by side, with deviation visible at a glance - One-tap event logging: Tack, Gybe, Reef, Engine on/off, Sail change - MOB workflow: bearing-and-distance tracker from the moment of trigger, anchored to the recovered position - Garmin Connect IQ companion (sold separately, free): log entries and trigger MOB straight from your wrist **Review a passage** - Briefing pack PDF (skipper + crew sheet, route, tides, hazards, vessel + emergency contact info) - GPX export for chartplotter import / sharing - Personal logbook view shows every passage you've sailed across all your boats **Crewing** - Publish a passage so previously-linked crew can express interest in joining - Skipper accepts / declines from the iOS app or the web (https://goastern.com) - Crew automatically see briefing PDFs and tracks for passages they sailed **Privacy by default** - Field-level encryption for crew passport / DOB / address.
