Limited functionality and data not consistent
Having used it for a while now, it is apparent its data is often delayed and inconsistent. A lot of time my vehicle location is not updated after a drive and the data doesn’t come through until hours later which really defeats of the purpose of such function. Reliability and predictability with consistent data is paramount in features it is trying to provide. Unfortunately much improvement is still required for the app to be useful and relied on. Really a shame VW is choosing this over its own connected services to offer in Australia.
It would be really useful if it showed doors are locked or not. But not a feature of this app, seems like a missed opportunity.

Why would VW use this App
Rubbish. More than 24Hrs later the hip locator still had me in a traffic jam 40km away.
GoConnect Doesn’t
My Volkswagen ID Buzz came with this app supposedly to monitor charging among other things. But the huge delays in connecting and updating information make it totally useless. The % battery level is almost always wrong and it says things like “last charged 20 hours ago” when it’s literally been charging for that whole time. It only gets 1 star because 0 isn’t an option 😠

Nothing useful in this app
I was hoping to see useful information about my car such as battery charge level, remote switch on of interior climate, and useful telemetry on trips.
Nothing of the sort, although you can get telemetry if you switch on GPS tracking. Why? The location of the car is irrelevant.
As for booking services, that can easily be done with a phone call. This app is a waste of space.

Can’t even do the basics
I don’t care that it can’t do what the Chinese carmaker apps can do… but it should at least be able to track the charging accurately which it cannot. Very poor app.
Needs more functionality
Compared to other brands who offer similar phone connectivity, this app is seriously lacking

Really needs: ability to control car features eg unlock/lock Aircon. Scheduled charging. Just to name a few!
Easy to Use
Overall a great app and does the job well. Would love a dark theme however, as it’s super bright.

Latest version is half translated
Overall a great app to use with the VW but the latest version is half translated - some parts are in German, some in other language.
Inaccurate
The information inside the app is just inaccurate. The charging notification is never right. The service centre details are also not right showing it closed. The app is basic, but even the basics are just not good enough.
Can’t update vehicle rego
I bought my new VW Caddy February 2025. Almost immediately, I changed the rego. When I installed the App some months later, I noticed that the details of the vehicle rego were wrong. They were the original details showing original registration. I tried to update within the App but couldn’t. I contacted GoConnect by email and explained the situation. They wanted proof of the change from the DoT which I sent them. They still haven’t changed the details. Further, they will not respond to further emails. I did call them and got through to someone who assured me that the rego would be changed but here we are a month later not updated. Why would it be so difficult to make such a small change?

VW Australia App - Basic
Great at what it set out to do in showing the vehicle battery but so basic compared to what the rest of the world get.
Bad privacy and cybersecurity
This app would be great, if you could get the insights on your trips and driving stats without having to transmit all of your location and other data to VW for processing. No way I’m sharing this much personal data, particularly to be processed overseas. The cybersecurity and aspects of this are terrible. Please take a look at the functionality available in the Tesla app and do better (this is the only positive thing I’ll ever say about Tesla).
