About

GoneCycling – cycling with full control over your data. GoneCycling is a focused cycling app for iPhone: record, plan, and ride – with no account, no subscription, no ads. All your rides, routes and settings live solely on your device. RECORD • Live map with your current position and heading; show your position as an icon if you like (bicycle, direction arrow, car …) • Ride recording with live stats – distance, duration, speed, elevation gain and an elevation profile; pause and resume anytime • Keeps running reliably in the background – even with the screen locked • Recording and navigation details on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island (Live Activity) • Notes, a 1–5 star rating, photos and free-form tags per ride – filter and group the list by tag, time period or location (federal state) • Transport mode per ride (cycling, on foot, car) – statistics and the widget break the figures down per mode • Share a ride as an image; a statistics overview with totals and records plus a Home Screen widget • Live POIs while riding (e.g. bakery, playground, ice cream) at the map edge – tapping one routes you straight there • GPX import and export for full data ownership; open .gpx files straight from the Files app with the app • Optionally back up individual rides to your own iCloud Drive – one tap on the cloud button per ride PLAN • Search for a destination or tap the map directly (start / waypoint / destination); "Search here" scopes the search to the area around a chosen point • Drag waypoints to move them, tap the route to insert intermediate points • Round-trip generator: proposes a loop of your chosen length from your location – reshuffle and save it as a planned ride • Customisable quick destinations (café, supermarket, gas station … – fully configurable) • Multiple routing providers to choose from: Apple, OpenRouteService and BRouter (server URL configurable) • Offline maps: download map areas in advance and use them without a connection • Bike profiles, avoidance options and spoken turn-by-turn guidance; elevation profile for routed paths (with OpenRouteService) TRIPS IN STAGES • Plan multi-day trips along a template route – or generate a route from start, destination and intermediate stops with no template at all • Automatic stage splitting by count or distance; snap to selectable types like hotel, vacation rental, hostel, B&B, campsite or station • Attach an accommodation to each stage – pick it on the map or from search, with a "booked?" status and check-in time; open the linked ride directly • Edit, merge, reorder and delete stages – with an elevation profile per stage GOALS • Set your own training goals like a fitness tracker – e.g. "100 km per week" or "5 hours of moving time per month" • Per transport mode (on foot, cycling, car) and period (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) – or as a one-off challenge with a deadline • Progress computed live from your rides, with a progress bar, percentage and streak counter • An optional local reminder at your chosen time and a little celebration when you reach a goal – fully on-device, no account • Home-screen widget with your active goals APPLE WATCH • Record rides straight from your wrist – as a workout with heart rate, even without your iPhone nearby • Finished rides arrive on your iPhone automatically; recent rides on the watch and a watch-face complication for a quick start YOUR STYLE • Choose an accent colour and light/dark mode; a short intro on first launch • Apple Maps or OpenStreetMap styles (CyclOSM, OpenTopoMap, worldwide, OpenStreetMap.de) – or your own custom tile URL PRIVACY BY DESIGN • No account, no backend, no forced cloud • No ads, no analytics, no tracking • Your data only leaves the device when you actively export it – via GPX or optionally to your own iCloud Drive German and English. Built for cyclists who value simplicity and control over their data.

What's New in GoneCycling

1.7

July 26, 2026

- Mixed transport per stage: a stage can now consist of cycling sections and transfer sections (train, car). Mark parts of your route as a transfer - the distance is broken down per mode (e.g. "35 km cycling + 20 km train") across the overview, stage and ride details. - Configurable route styling: colour, thickness and line style can now be set per route type (Settings > Map & display) - with a live preview. Planned routes appear uniformly bold, while stage and template routes are red, so the lines are easy to tell apart. - Tidied-up routing & navigation: a single "Start navigation" button; tapping a place while riding makes it your direct next stop; "Ride this tour" now behaves like a stage (with an approach leg from your location). Routing follows a template more closely now, and the remaining distance no longer jumps backwards. - Toggleable navigation overlay: a tap switches between the full and a compact view (direction arrow, maneuver and destination distance, arrival time). The size of the overlay elements is freely adjustable in Settings. - Battery level above the record button (optional), with an estimate of the remaining runtime. - Places along the active stage are visible and tappable during navigation - add one as an intermediate stop directly; the live POI markers are larger. - Notes saved visibly: a "Saved" indicator on trips, rides and stages, plus extra protection against data loss. - Fix: elevation gain is no longer overestimated from GPS noise (no invented climb on flat routes); an interrupted recording can be resumed prominently from the map.
