How can I just view the moon, do I have to just look at the earth? No, you need to fix this Google, I spent to much times looking at the whole entire things I search up, it got me bored.
Measuring
Anytime I’m measuring on my phone it changes to advanced measurement or finishes the measurement before I’m done. The Add point marker should be moved.

August, 2026 Google Earth team- I installed the most recent update, hoping that some of the problems I was having were fixed. Nope. In addition to the choices of what I want displayed, the darn thing doesn’t have satellite view as the default. Why‽ I hate having to click to switch to satellite *and* custom view every single time I use it. If I wanted a sketch like map I’d use Apple Maps. Google Earth has wandered further away from what makes it useful.
July, 2026 I use this app a lot and love that I can save searches, measurements, etc. I've been using map apps as I read because they make everything more memorable and real. I’ve run into a problem recently that I should have predicted and prevented. I have too many maps. I’ve figured out that I need to include better descriptions of who and what make a particular item important, but I’ve reached the point where files should be merged.
Let’s say I have a map about interesting borders and another about revanchist claims. The two are obviously interconnected, so I want to merge the maps. Sure, I could combine them manually, but it takes a long time to redraw the borders. It looks like I can copy a feature from one file and paste it into another, but that doesn't seem to do anything. Weird, right? Right now, I guess I’ll use a subset of the maps I’ve put a lot of time into and hope I’ll be able to merge the files sooner or later.

Unnecessarily annoying
A few issues that really need to be solved.. Turning on "Map" View instead of "Satellite" will make the app default to map view forever, no matter what you do.
The app also always defaults to "Exploration", and it must be changed every single time.
It actually seems like most things revert to random default settings. For an app as big as this, not saving settings seems absurd.

The rendering has recently been downgraded. I can no longer see a location that used to offer a downtown view from afar.

Basemap Settings issue
So when I change a setting in the basemap settings when I reopen google earth, it resets or moves the setting that I choose
