I really enjoy the Spotlight on people and family. I wish I could type in a name and Google would make one for that person.
Really helpful
Started consolidating my photos and videos to Google Photos. It automatically suggested photos that needed to be rotated and allowed one click to fix them all. I also like the face recognition.
I love how it every few days suggests photos of someone, some location of several people.

Broken
Poorly designed guard rails, keep breaking the app. It’s very interesting watching your AI attempt to institute restrictions and effectively break the app on multiple accounts. Even more interesting watching Gemini flail in Google lens.

Albums don’t load
Created a bunch of album an over the years with my photos. Now the albums don’t load in the app.
Missing one thing I think
So I’ve been using Google Photos I don’t know for years and it’s great but the only thing is I think I have like 12,000 photos and or more and there’s no way except for going through manually for duplicate photos because every time they upload they have something different either the name or I edited it, but it’s essentially the same photo so if you could make a similar or duplicate photos setting that I could just hit and it would pull up everything that looks that would be awesome because it changes the name or something and if I do it later, it comes up later if that would be something you can work on that would be great just a suggestion thank you besides that I love having my photos on there so I don’t have to have them on my phone and that they pop up and show me things that happened like 13 years ago. 😀

It works, then they screw with servers and it’s super slow
Every year or two Google breaks Google Photos. Why? it’s inexcusable with the hardware and resources they have. Absolute incompetence

Photo to video feature is broken
With the most recent update, the photo to video feature does not work anymore. It states that every photo is “too small,” even though it fits perfectly within the frame. This was never an issue before.
Update: after the newest update where they said there were bug fixes, the feature is still broken.
Update: there have been several app updates since my initial review and the feature has yet to be fixed. Not sure it ever will be at this point. Disappointing.
Update: the developer response wasn’t relevant to what I was saying about the photo to video feature. The feature is broken, plain and simple. It used to work fine and now nearly every photo, regardless of size, is “too small.” It is simply broken and has been now for months.
